Thumbs up The Horror Channel - NEW TO SKY!!!!

Hi,

If you are into horror or extreme cinema, or just the downright bizarre, then Sky has announced the long-awaited "Horror Channel"!

It will transmit 7-days-a-week, between 6pm and 6am, although the exact Sky Digital channel position has not yet been decided. (Expect it to be in the 100's or 200's though!)

For full details, including schedules, check out this link here.

The channel is, surprisingly, free-to-air, and will start from 6pm Monday 3rd May! Most product should be uncut, uncensored and in their original language (with English subtitles) and widescreen formats where possible!

For May 2004, everything shown will be films, with no series or documentaries. But this will change from June, according to news reports from the station itself, with classic horror and fantasy horror shows like "Friday The 13th: The Series", "Freddy's Nightmares", and classic black-and-white shows too!

Films will range from the classic Fritz Lang "M" and stuff from the 1920's and 1930's, via Hammer movies of the 50's-70's, upto the most recent blood-curdlers like "Cradle Of Fear" and "Sacred Flesh", via numerous Nasties from Fulci, Argento and Bava!

This could be an awesome channel! E-mail them if you have any programming suggestions, and tell them what they're doing right too! The earlier we viewers get in, the better the chances of us seeing what we want!

The content does indeed sound promising. The only problem i see is that as its 'free-to-air', there will almost certianly be lots of adverts, and no doubt the obligatory logo. Lets hope that during the films, the adverts are infrequent (as with TCM), and the logo is small.

Jelly,

"Deadly Earnest"? If you are referring to an old Horror Channel TV host for the US station, then I should point out that like The US Sci-Fi Channel, and the UK Sci-Fi Channel, the UK and US branches of the Horror Channel are not related to one another, at all!

If you don't mean to refer to this, then I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, as the Horror Channel has never existed before now!

They should have lobbied for channel 333. That way their slogan could have been: "We're half-way there."

Azrikam,

If they'd lobbied hard enough, they could have got 666 on Sky instead, and if not, placed a hex on Rupert Murdoch's whole empire!

Now that would have been truly horrific.... for the Murdoch's!

Luke,

I know! I was being sarcastic, e.g. The Horror Channel might have been able to hex Rupert Murdoch and Co, though, into swapping channel numbers with the Phone Shopping Channel, or else made a pact with the devil perhaps!
