Red face X Factor - Do you watch it because you have to or want to?

I have to watch it because the misses watches it. I cannot watch anything else or go to another room. Does anybody else have this problem, Mainly blokes I guess!

Even so I have to say I would sometimes rush downstairs and say "Who's been voted off" in my embarrassment

Re: X Factor - Do you watch it because you have to or want to?

It's always on in the background, as my wife and 6YO daughter love it.
I prefer not to sit alone in a different room when it's on, so I sit on the PC or itouch when it's on.
Maybe read a mag/book.
I'm evidently able to block it out quite well, as I couldn't name you any of the contestants.

My wife watches it, so I go and watch something else in another room.

Or debate the mysteries of the universe on avforums....

And then have to suffer continual shouts of "come and look at this...."

Re: X Factor - Do you watch it because you have to or want to?

My wife 'forces' me to watch it. I really have no interest whatsoever *ahem*

That shall remain the official party line.

By the way it's a bleedin' disgrace that lovely Lucie got voted off instead of the twins

Not that I care of course

Re: X Factor - Do you watch it because you have to or want to?

I stopped watching it when making Simon money became more important than talent.

Basically when the twins did that Britteny Spears song is when I lost interest. So much talent has already gone to waste because Jedward are so far the bigger cash cow(lle)

I should add, I do watch it religiously when it's at the 'retard' stages.
Once it gets past the delusional fools/backward idiots , I lose all interest.

This year I haven't seen one minute of any of it. That's because I wanted to!

Havn't seen any of this one thankfully, the one before I saw bits because of the GF at the time. Thankfully I don't have to watch any reality TV or contest things, can't stand any of them.

Sadly I watch it religiously. Ashamed to say I do, but in my defence it is always recorded and do manage to get through the Sat and Sun shows in about 1 hour.

I have to admit it's a guilty pleasure of mine this show, I do like my Cheryl fix once a week. Terrible series though now, little more than a promotion excercise for Simon and his cronies.

Re: X Factor - Do you watch it because you have to or want to?

I also watch it recorded on a Sunday night, with no ads and fast fowarding all the padding rubbish.

I have to watch it recorded because we like to watch Strictly live on a Saturday night

Thing is, I never used to watch either but my wife had them on. Then you start getting drawn in and before you know it you can't wait each week. Personally I much prefer Strictly as its less "over the top" , less manufactured AND it has major totty value If anyone saw Ola in that red catsuit they will know what I mean

I do wonder what X Factor will do when that guy who did the Barrat Homes voiceovers ever dies. He is Cheese-tastic

In this country of abbreviating absolutely everything possible, I wonder when it will come time for people to be saying "Oooh, did you watch X this week?" or "Did you see you those twin bozos on the Factor?"

Prefer X factor but things like the cat suit sure do make Strictly less of a chore when the wife insists on watching it live

Re: X Factor - Do you watch it because you have to or want to?

I refuse to watch it willingly but when the girlfriend stays over, which inevitably ends up being the weekend, I am forced to.

I have tried the 'I'll record it so you can watch it later at your own leisure' tactic but it appears she prefers (will only!) watch it 'live'.

I'd admit it can be of interest at times but also quite embarrassing, which I imagine for some is the fun of it

I used to watch X Factor live but the constant ad breaks were annoying so now I Sky plus it and watch Strictly.

Wouldn't watch such drivel under any circumstances, and no one earth could make me. And I'm more than glad to say my GF feels the same way about such crap.

I'd heard that he doesn't and is keen to know who does. It's just a rumour though so I wouldn't worry too much.

I choose to watch it. it can be very entertaining at times due to watching the acts and all the emotions they go through and also the bickering between the judges
