Why is it that the whole of the planet watches American Tv programmes, good and bad, but good programmes from elsewhere on the planet have to be re-written and re-cast for the American audiences? For the most part we speak the same language.
I can only conclude that the American population are so out of touch with the rest of the world that they refuse to accept anything that has not been 'Americanised'. The show has to be politically correct, have a token ethnic and a token gay character and 'sanitized for your protection'. The hero must be all-American. For the benefit of the 'bible-belt' there has to be a moral message somewhere. Invariably the tone of the original idea is lost and the shows take a dive after a few episodes.
