Thanks: Gave 14, Got 187 | American Dad superior to Family Guy! discuss!
Sorry I've gotta say it
I am a huge fan of family guy but frankly the weak flashbacks are getting silly (yes they are funny at times) but it gets very predictable.
I truly think American Dad is the better adult cartoon.
It very rarely uses flashbacks
Each episode is a complete story which makes sense (unlike Family guy which at times is just 20 mins of random jokes -funny but random)
Family Guy is starting to turn into the Stewie and Brian show. When the focus moves away from them the episodes are very weak.
All of the characters in American Dad are funny in some way
I look forward to American Dad each week more so than Family Guy (I personally think they need to stop family guy focus on a Stewie,Bruce spin off - get rid of that Cleveland rubbish too!)
P.S That Disney segment in the latest family guy episode was amazing though!!

I'd agree. Family Guy passed the baton to American Dad a couple seasons ago. I wouldn't go as far as saying Roger is Funnier then Stewie but he defo defo has his moments.

Family Guy has got very weak in my view over the last couple of series and because of that I'd probably prefer American Dad now. The last FG Series I saw on the telly was so poor I stopped watching part way through and I've not even bought the DVD.

Not better than Stewie but I believe the interaction between Roger and the rest of the family is alot better than Stewie and the Griffins.

The other problem is that Stewie hasn't been given so much air time or so many evil things to do and they've concentrated more on Peter being stupid...... just like they did when The Simpsons lost the plot.

Apart from their relationship though there is nothing else really that great about family guy
Yes its funny but thats about it - its good for a laugh but i'm starting to dislike the controversial comedy they are using (sometimes it seems so overboard that its just silly - i.e the latest Jew episode)
American Dad is funny without the need to steep so low (and that to me is the sign of better comedy and better writing - the ability to be funny without being crude)

Infact now that I think about it I haven't bothered watching Family Guy since the Stephen King episode. It was truly rubbish.

Alot of episodes focusing on just those two.
even a few episodes ago - The time machine. That episode was fantastic as it was just those two

Yeah, 'Family Guy' has really lost its way in the past couple of seasons though I've personally preferred 'American Dad' since it first aired. 'South Park' is the best of the animated series on TV though. As for 'The Simpsons', I used to religiously watch all the new episodes but now I find I mostly stick to the classics as the quality has dipped dramatically.
