Thumbs up FRINGE (Season 1) - Repeated from tonight!

Hi,

Just in case, and for anyone else who never caught this amazing hybrid spy/action/sci-fi show from the US, Sky 1 is repeating the entire first season of JJ Abrams' FRINGE, starting tonight at 11pm, with the feature-length Pilot Episode.

Episodes will then be shown each Thursday night only (no repeats), around the same time, in pairs, e.g. next Thursday will be episodes 2 and 3, then the week after it'll be 4 and 5, and so on, and so forth.

Highly Recommended, but the Pilot Episode does contain some strong violence right at the very start, that might shock some audiences! Not recommended, if you're eating at that moment!

err.. it's not a spy show

sci-fi would have sufficed

action's usually a given

Well, if you want to get really anally retentative about it, it's not really sci-fi (ala Battlestar Galactica), nor is it an action show (ala Airwolf, The A-Team, or LA Heat), nor a spy show (ala Mission Impossible, Get Smart, etc). In fact, it's technically all of these and yet none of them. Hence the reason for my desciption of it being a "hybrid show"!

Jeez, it was only meant to be a polite notice that the show was being repeated, not a discussion about genre!

Re: FRINGE (Season 1) - Repeated from tonight!

Go off on one, digging yourself deeper if you must but, polite notice not withstanding, it remains a misleading description for anyone who hasn't caught the show (including yourself perhaps?)
- hence my correction, which wasn't intended to initiate a discussion about genre

Fringe: pertaining to "fringe science", which the main characters are engaged in researching/investigating
It's a made up drama: hence fiction
- episodes may contain horror/thriller elements ... which originate from the core sci-fi story ... still doesn't make it a hybrid

... unless there's some new definition of sci-fi, regarding it having to be set in space (ala Battlestar Galactica )?

Just in case there's anyone else who hasn't watched Fringe yet, seasons 1 & 2 are currently available on the Warner TVOD channel:

WBTV :: Show Info - Fringe - Fringe

I'm about 3/4 of the way through season 1 and rather enjoying this modern take on The X-Files

I've just finished Season 2 on BD. Loved it, all of it.

Like most x-Files fans i watched the first season and thought "this is the x-files" but i went with it and enjoyed it.

THEN!! in the first episode of Season 2 Mulder and Scully were seen on a TV screen (Episode Dreamland - Season 6 - about body swapping - while the Fringe episode was about shape shifters - Sorry i'm a real, real x-files geek)

THEN!!! in the same episode at a sentate hearing about closing down Fringe Division the sentor said something about "Fringe Division and previous X designation" - That was it i was happy, i calmed down - they had mentioned my beloved X-files - i could now relax)

Love it, Walter is a star and John Noble is awesome.

Found this on the web (contines S2 spoilers)

I may return to this if they loose that lead Australian lady who can't act and has one facial expression as John Noble as said is rather good in it, and he has quite a good chemistry with the son character Peter.

Other than that its very hit and miss though.. The main story arc seems to get constantly interupted by rather poor identical monster stories. I could understand this in season 1 as it found its feet but a few episodes into season 2 this didnt stop so I'm afraid I have given up and sold it..

Fringe is a great series love Walter and as the seasons progress the stories all tie in just one thing though where have the Observers gone haven't seen them for ages?
