Being Human (Series 2 + Spoilers)

BBC's monster 'Being Human' series 2 begins shooting in August, the first series was excellent

Series writer Toby Whithouse says:

Quote:
There will still be plenty of monsters in series 2. Whithouse clarified that the human threat would not replace any supernatural mojo. "[It's] inevitably [supernatural] because they're never going to lose their curses," Whithouse said.

Whithouse will stick to his core three species though: werewolves, ghosts and vampires. "Not out of any kind of editorial policy, just because I can't really think of one that wouldn't somehow break the genre," he said. "We've thought about, 'Oh, we could put a zombie in.' Then somehow it just instinctively doesn't feel right. I can't tell you why, but it just doesn't feel right. At the moment, it's just our three main guys."

The closest Whithouse got to adding another creature was a human with extra abilities, but that's kind of akin to the ghost. "I've got a psychic in series 2," he said.

Missed it first couple of times, but caught up with it on the recent BBC HD showing, thought it was OK, but nothing special.

Shall have a look at the first couple of eps of series 2, not sure if I'll stick with it though.

I've only caught a couple myself, but I've heard from a few people that it's better to watch the whole series.

I've give it a go

Re: Being Human (Series 2 + Spoilers)

The first series was mainly very good but I haven't seen the pilot. It wasn't on the disc release. It'd be very nice to give that a go.

Finally got around to finishing the series last night and my opimion hasn't changed, it's OK, nothing more than that.

I'll take a look at the first couple of episodes when they make the new series, but not really that bothered to be honest.

Re: Being Human (Series 2 + Spoilers)

I'll watch it, because it's more than watchable, but it's not a patch on, say, True Blood, which is much, much better.

Torchwood gets better every series. From a fairly weak start in the first it improved to excellent in the third. Being Human started off very well and I hope it'll get even better.

Britain used to be very good at giving new shows a second chance if they didn't work straight away. It doesn't happen so much now so it was great to see Torchwood given another chance.

Cheers

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't see the first episode on this show last time. Being Human was shown on BBCHD last night but there was no mention of which season it was and whether or not it was a repeat. My TV EPG just said it was 1 of 6 which could have meant last season or this season, so good to hear there are eight episodes this time and that it doesn't being until next week

The pilot had a different ghost & vampire (i think), but it was very good, I really enjoy this show & am looking forwards to the second series.

Episode 1

Not bad, but some parts did not quite work, the direction is quite quirky at times, and the ending with the house intrusion with the guy praying in each room did not work well as expected. I preferred it when Anne was a ghost, her being solid has lost something, though she did bring humour to a quite emotional episode concerning the werewolves. I don't know why George was so emotional and saying what he has done to the person he loves, when he's out bopping that Vampire girl.

Disapointing i thought. I really enjoyed the first two series so was looking forward to the third. Seems to have lost its way though. Did improve a bit in the second half so maybe the rest of the series will be better.

This is new series 2, not 3. I'm sure it will get better.

Episode 2

This series has a different feel, more laboured, intense, more subplots. Enjoyed the episode, i wanted Annie to revert back to a ghost, but i kind got used to her in the pub in ep2, but now against her wishes and the trauma off what happened in the hospital room she is now a ghost against. The whole thing about Terry Wogan talking to her boyfriend was strange, he had a direct line to the 'other side'.

Its getting darker all the time, trouble is I fear we are being led down ohhh don't do that, but they go ahead & do it anyway routine .. such as Nina leaving & bumping into you know who...still it's a good show, but it's lost the great humour that made the first series what it was.

I enjoyed ep.2. I did think I was starting to lose interest after the last/first week but maybe it's got a few tricks up it's sleeve. The Terry Wogen and TV news man bits were funny and dark. I thought it showed that there was something scary about the 'otherside'. What I didn't get was that I thought Anne was given the choice to stay but now it's a evil plot to get her back? Makes things interesting I guess.

Episode 2 much better than episode 1, Annies storyline was great. The humour is lost a little because George has changed his personality since killing the baddie in the first series. But I saw glimpses of his humour come back in the latest episode.

I like the darkness and the hints at the bigger picture out there

Good start in the caves. The modern vampires have a new king, and a twist at the end.

Being Human renewed for a third season

And the show is relocating from Bristol to Wales.

Quote:
Russell Tovey, Lenora Crichlow and Aidan Turner are announced to return for a third series of critically acclaimed hit BBC Three drama Being Human, as the supernatural friends trying to live normal lives despite their unusual afflictions.

The new series of the BBC Three drama Being Human is to be relocated in Wales, it has been announced. The drama, which chronicles the lives of a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost follows Casualty, which is moving from Bristol to Cardiff. The housemates will relocate from their current home in Bristol to Wales – a move triggered by events in the dramatic climax of the second series (to be shown in February),

Piers Wenger, head of drama at BBC Cymru Wales said it is "thrilled" that an editorial opportunity has arisen for the show to come to Wales. BBC Wales is to build a new TV production centre in Cardiff Bay, The popular drama made by Touchpaper Television, part of the RDF Media Group, which launched with an audience of 1.4 million.

Do you actually watch this show ? It's not exactly earth-shattering news it has been re-newed when you realise that it has been nominated for awards - so somebody must have taken the view that it stands out from most other BBC programmes

Episode 4

Another strong episode that keeps the story moving forward. George was hilarious with his swearing outbursts and not so with his violence, seems like a side effect of the sleeping in a sex cage, full pumped off tranquillisers. Whilst Mitchell holds a vampire AA meeting.
