I did hear rumours of a suit at Comic Con. Was this ever confirmed?

I think it was mentioned and previewed via the trailer at the Smallville Panel at comic-con, also Brian Austin Green as a new villain.

Quote:
One interesting fact shared through the trailer is that Clark will don a new suit which is totally different from the old red and blue. It is pitch black with the silver symbol "S" across the chest, topped with black trench coat. There was also a glimpse of Brian Austin Green as the new villain, Metallo, whose main source of power is kryptonite.

Season 9 looks awesome, but its hard to see the new costume in the trailer at the very end.

Re: Smallville - Season 9 (US + Spoilers)

Season 9 needs to be good, after a very disappointing S8
- have never been that disappointed with a favourite show of mine since 24 S6

the creators Gough and Millar left after S7, and S8's showrunners were just on a one-season job ... so the new exec producers surely can't be a change for the worse (as I've mentioned somewhere ... I think they should really have brought in Bryan Fuller)

Rough photoshop job, the head doesn't match the body!

Anyway, i shall remain loyal to the end and keep my fingers crossed for S9. I mean, it can't get any worse than the ending of S8!

I'm still on season 3 so I've only had a very quick peek in here and I may not come back till I catch up. How can they keep this going so long before we get to Superman? Clark must be getting a bit long in the tooth by now. Regardless of how good the writers and producers are it must be past it's sell by date.

Bri

Re: Smallville - Season 9 (US + Spoilers)

I think first half of season 8 was fantastic had high hopes for the doomsday arch but when they came back from holiday break they just never seemed to pick up were they left of and show ran slowly into a poor season finale. I stick by Smallville because when they do get episode right its epic..

Season 1-4 is like a baby storyline, from 5 onwards it becomes bigger.

Re: Smallville - Season 9 (US + Spoilers)

Savior

New opening credits to reflect the cast changes and we are back into the life and times of proto Superman as he struggles to embrace his destiny by turning his back on his closest friends.

There was some nice imagery especially the costume which was very Watchman like but you do wonder sometimes exactly what Lois carries around with her, perhaps she borrowed the slutty yet still unrevealing costume on the off chance her reporting creds didn't work.
Again I don't know a lot about Superman folklore or canon form the various comics so Metallo is new to me but as is the pattern a baddy arrives either full on or in mild mannered disguise so grabby John and total loon Zod!

Re: Smallville - Season 9 (US + Spoilers)

I liked the dark theme but I do think they need to end after this season for God sake let him fly and get his costume they can't drag it out any longer finish on a high and let the franchise go out with a bang.

Re: Smallville - Season 9 (US + Spoilers)

nice opener, almost made me forget about the disappointing end to last season ... and what a flashback of the future!!!

Good new Zod with Callum Blue's voice sounding very Terrence Stamp at times

not sure about the Zorro thing though

Re: Smallville - Season 9 (US + Spoilers)

Liked the start to the new season and being a big Superman fan it pleases me to see Clark in training.

Lois glimpse of the future was interesting and I was surprised that a hole army came out of the orb rather than just Zod!

I think what troubles me most about this upcoming season is how dark it can get, I don't want Clark/Superman to turn into the Dark Knight and as cool as it was to see Clark on edge of a roof in a psuedo costume it was kind of like watching Dark Knight lol

Superman is a beacon I hope if this is to be the dark times before the light then they give us the loyal fans closure with a Superman pan shot hovering in the air listening for the next call for help

Re: Smallville - Season 9 (US + Spoilers)

looking forward to another episode of Smallville this weekend. have a theory regarding zod and his army etc.

Did anyone else notice that in the season premiere they referred to the new zod as 'MAJOR' Zod.

Furthermore at the end of 'Metallo' last week we saw the crest of the house of el with a body lying in a field, who could it be?

Well Is it possible that the orb of Kandor housed an image of sorts a capture of krypton from an earlier point in time therefore we have a young Zod who isn't a general yet and would explain why he doesn't remember being in the phantom zone. Finally leading me to believe the body in the field could be a young Jor-el.

Rabid

While not truly standalone it did have that freak of the week feel and threw in the flashback build up as well.
Some very interesting stuff with Oliver and I'm really beginning to like Emil and of course the Clark and Lois dynamic was bubbling up nicely
I'm still convinced on the Zod narrative but damn was that a good scene.

Re: Smallville - Season 9 (US + Spoilers)

This was one of the best Smallville episodes in a long time! Yes its clearly 28 days later crammed in to 40 minutes, but after season 8, the first three episodes have been really strong.

Also, anyone else notice the hugh increase in blood, violence and all round darkness? I don't remember seeing swords use so much, especially <zod with a bit of housekeeping>

Lets hope they dont run out of money half way through the season!

Couldn't help thinking of Brucie on the old Generation Game when Zod's man kept striking that pose

Am pretty sure Emil Hamilton is NOT to be trusted, is a bit of a self-serving mad professor in the DC Universe, often switching allegiances

It doesn't matter who many times he says it - it wont have the same quality as Stamp's 'Kneel before Zod'

They managed to find a way in the story for Christopher Reeves, Terrance Stamp would be cool for a one off show, hmm, i wonder.....

Stamp is bound to show up eventually in the fortress in the white robs with S crest, jez he even has the white hair nowadays lol

hated him at the beginning as his Jor-el wasn't very easy to warm to but now I can see he was teaching his son tough lessons that needed to be taught.

Re: Smallville - Season 9 (US + Spoilers)

Echo

excellent episode and every scene with Lois and Clark was like watching an old episode of the New Adventures of Lois and Clark.

Training by jor-el is coming along in waves which is nice way to get round not having Clark have to stand in the fortress for 20+ years a la Superman 1 but I still feel that if Smallville wants to end the show this year or next easiest way out and also cheapest could be that Clark has been in training all along since around season 5/6 and doesn't know it hes playing out a virtual world making choices both good and bad. Just a thought

But that would be like Bobby Ewing saying "Good Morning" in the shower after Pam woke up from dreaming a whole season X 3 ... would upset people more than the end of last season
