Justified - Season 1 (US + Spoilers)

FX is picking up 13 episodes of Lawman (originally titled "Fire in the Hole," and likely to eventually get another title), stars Timothy Olyphant.

Olyphant plays modern-day U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, whose old-style brand of law enforcement gets him in trouble with his bosses. As a result, he's reassigned to cover the area where he grew up.

Quote:
The character Raylan Givens, who appears in several works by Elmore Leonard including the novella "Fire in the Hole." FX plans to launch the drama next spring. Sony Pictures TV is behind the show, along with FX Prods. Yost, who wrote the pilot, will exec produce, along with Leonard, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly and Michael Dinner (who directed the pilot).

"Now the hard part begins, as we work to channel Elmore," Yost said. "We're all big fans of his, and want to bring that sensibility to the weekly show. Other people have tried -- it's not easy." Yost said the show will spend a great deal of time on the villains -- "Elmore comes up with great bad guys" -- as well as map out Olyphant's character.

"He's an anachronism," Yost said of Raylan Givens. "He wears a Stetson and truly sees himself as a marshal. We also feel that having the show set in Kentucky is fresh. It's a part of the world that hasn't been explored much in TV and is ripe with great characters."

The "Lawman" pilot was shot in Pittsburgh and Miami, but Southern California will double for Kentucky in the series. Olyphant most recently co-starred in FX's "Damages" last season. "Lawman" also stars Nick Searcy, Jacob Pitts and Erica Tazel. Guest stars include Walton Goggins, Joelle Carter and Natalie Zea. "Lawman" reps the 10th drama series ordered by FX and the seventh produced under its FX Prods. banner. For Sony, it joins other series produced for FX including "The Shield," "Rescue Me" and "Damages."

re: Justified - Season 1 (US + Spoilers)

I'll watch that guy in anything, well perhaps not a soap or a guest role in Desperate Housewives (sorry Nathan but not even for you).

I'll definitely give this a try.

He's a great actor.. Really liked him in Deadwood and Damages.

Justified

Lawman, not to be confused with Steven Segal's series of the same name, the new FX show is now renamed 'Justified'.

Starts in March.

like the way he says I was just-i-fied
- great pilot

EDIT ... apparently this was FX's biggest series premiere since The Shield's debut in 2002

A solid start, not exactly a fast paced pilot unlike The Shield but there is certainly potential there now some of the basics have been set down.

Great start for any show, putting him against Walton Goggins was superb.
Though I do miss the swearing of Deadwood

If you have a US iTunes account the pilot is a free HD download.

episode 4 10/10

I thought episode 4 was way better than episode 3.

Spoiler:
For some reason Travis pulling the gun and shooting didnt feel realistic in episode 3, they knew he had goneback to the office to get the money and would have spoken to colleagues etc. UNless ofcourse he planned to frame the dead guy in the pool wit the shooting.
END SPOILER

This show is an absolute must. I think a fair few FIREFLY/SERENITY fans would like it cause it has the same old fashioned charm.

Loved Alan Ruck and the resolution far more realistic yet still touching when compared to other crime shows.

I really enjoyed this episode, ok it was a bit Columboish but the "if you had a gun in your hand" was fantastic as was Picardo and the final reveal was inspiring.

THe packed a whole episodes action into one scene and the rest kinda plodded along although truth to be told it was good viewing regardless. Loved Raylan losing it in the prison and then you thought he was gonna go for him again, Boyd is surprisingly turning into a central character despite being locked away and what exactly was the ex-wife doing?
