Dark Blue us pace

TNT Dark Blue:

In Dark Blue,Dylan McDermott is Carter Shaw, the leader of our crack undercover team of police officers whose relentless pursuit of LA’s worst criminals has cost him any semblance of a personal life; Omari Hardwick is Ty Curtis, a recently married cop who struggles to maintain his dual existence; Logan Marshall-Green is Dean Bendis, a shoot-from-the-hip officer whose activities make fellow team members question his loyalties; and Nicki Aycox is Jaimie Allen, a green patrol cop with a hidden past.

looks promising

I think I will also give this a punt now as there isn't much on.

Re: Dark Blue us pace

Episode 1 - 7/10

Not great, but not bad. Has a lot off action in it, ala Heat. I enjoyed it, though has some silly bits in it, and they tried too hard with the shock value at pointing guns at people's heads and pulling the trigger, the dialogue seemed corny at times. One point a cop says he saw his partners face up on a balcony and he showed no remorse, etc, this was in the dark over a huge distance! The problem was the story was too predictable, no originality, or twists. Still it was only ep 1 and usually series get stronger as they go, so i look forward to the next.

Re: Dark Blue us pace

Seems a fair assessment. I also thought the female cops character was poorly written. One minute she's on the gun range, next thing she's had her secret blown, joined a deep undercover unit, been shot in the chest as part of a sting, shot her first bad guy and she's still got a smile on her face at the close - almost as if she's just had a nice day at the shops? Where's the drama?

That said I thought Logan Marshall-Green's character was good though, and the actor has a bit of screen presence. Also liked him in The OC. The black cop was also pretty good.

I'll give it another go but it's no 'The Shield' or for that matter 'The Beast.'

Re: Dark Blue us pace

Quite weak opener, agree with the above, not very well written, which seems pretty usual these days, but worth watching again to see if it improves.

Episode 2: Guns, Strippers and Wives - 7.9/10

Better than last week. But still ran down a predictable path. Seems like Dylan McDermott's will give out wise words to his crew every episode

Re: Dark Blue us pace

Much better 2nd episode. Tension, drama and some nifty gunplay.

Would have liked to see them execute the guy at the end who was about to kill the wife, but hey I'm blood thirsty and I guess they are cops not a death squad.

LM-G's character would have made a good No.5 on the Strike Team, the guy's a killer.

Also funny how the bad guy was scared of an Armenian nut job. Made me instantly think of Margos Dezerian, the Jesus lookalike psychopath from The Shield.

Episode 3: Purity - 8/10

I can't believe they did not check Ty for a gun when he was sitting there with the drugs, then it all kicked off, with the lawyer thing

At the end, went Jaimie went into her dance mode, im guessing what? she was drifting back into her previous life, or just wanted a good time

So many lies within the Dark Blue crew, she never told Carter she snorted to get the deal done, but confessed about the entrapment, he blew his top, if only he had know. He did get a bit mucho with her earlier by shouting her down in front off Ty & Dean.

Spoiler
Im guessing that the deal at the end and the case went FUBAR?, as they had nothing on Howard.

Episode 4: K-Town - 8.9/10

Very good episode tonight, i knew it about Jaimie, the minx.

Ok Carter Shaw saw the boot, and Dean knew that, surely does not take a genius to know he will know who's it was when they turn up wearing them. Then again Dean might off thought is it any off Carter's business who he taps.
I liked the struggle with Ty and Dean, that all Ty's ideas and concerns were brushed aside by the team.

Re: Dark Blue us pace

Eps 3 & 4 have been much improved and I'm starting to enjoy this. The episodes have been taut with enough nastiness in them to keep me happy.

The team are racking up the body count faster than the Strike team.

Episode 5: August - 8/10

They questioned the woman hostage for about 10secs, she made no effort to describe the inside off the warehouse. But it was still a good episode, the only problem is you always feel the Dark Blue character in peril will get rescued every week. Plus going undercover, your going to get recognized soon in the criminal world, there are only 3 off them to share around, Cutter does not like to get dirty most off them time.

Good episode. The show has certainly cemented itself on my weekly schedule.

Another kill for the team this week. I don't think they need to worry about being recognised when they slot half of the people their investigating.

Another good episode. The look on Dean's face when the bust was made. How quick good they raid places!. The Rippers were a smash and grab crew, alarms going off, not very subtle. I liked the Ripper leader, he had good presence.
