Anti-virus companies like Norton were telling people to switch browsers to Firefox, Opera etc.

MS said that they don't need to and to put security settings on high in IE but then you loose all the functionality of websites such as Java etc.

Meaning that MS didn't want you to switch to a non-MS browser. No wonder they issued a fast fix.

Too late. Firefox for me now. Faster and hasn't crashed once yet.

Looks like Firefox got their patch too.
