Post Hollywood cult directors back Blu-ray, describe format potential as 'fantastic'

<p><img style="margin: 6px; float: left;" src="http://www.homecinemachoice.com/files/hcc_content/two_heads.jpg" title="Separated at birth?" width="249" height="150" />Two of Hollywood's most influential film-makers have been eulogizing about Blu-ray. <br />Anarchic Kevin Smith and fantasy king Guillermo del Toro both give the new format the thumbs up, with the latter describing the format's potential as 'fantastic.'</p>
<p>Kevin Smith confesses that he's been a convert ever since Paramount gave him a Panasonic 103in plasma and Blu-ray player as a gift. <span class='read-more'><a href="http://www.homecinemachoice.com/blogs/team_HCC/beardy+nerds+backs+blu">&nbsp;read&nbsp;more&nbsp; &raquo;</a></span></p>

Blu-Ray is a fab format but the problem is for the everyday man on the street it still looks like a DVD and seems to pricey. Maybe next year once prices fall it will start to take off in the mainstream.

Wish someone would give me a 103" plasma as a gift. I'd stump up for the BR player if they did. Though I already have PS3 and a 52" 720p TV I don't have much inclination to buy lots of BR discs. In fact the only one I own is the James Bond one that came free with the PS3.

Regards

Mark
