Post New MicroSD card format aims to replace CD

<p><img style="margin: 6px; float: left;" src="http://www.homecinemachoice.com/files/hcc_content/hardware/slotmusiccard.jpg" title="For CD, the future of music is slotMusic...maybe" width="157" height="142" />Can a new version of the MicroSD card finally kill off the compact disc? SanDisk says its slotMusic format, due to go on sale in the US this Christmas,* has all the credentials necessary to dispatch the silver disc for good. </p>
<p>A 1GB slotMusic card would carry DRM-free MP3s recorded at 320Kbps and allow playback on a variety of assorted portable media players and phones. <span class='read-more'><a href="http://www.homecinemachoice.com/blogs/team_HCC/slotmusic+takes+aim+at+cd">&nbsp;read&nbsp;more&nb sp;&raquo;</a></span></p>

They have to be kididng me. This not forward but BACKWORDS. The USB 1gig sticks in the late 1990's were better ideas than this. It will be as doomed as the Sony Mini Disc which was actually good as it was lossless compatible.

Re: New MicroSD card format aims to replace CD

I dont get it! 1Gb sd card? Why mp3? A CD is only 700Mb!
Compress sound? You're joking, right? I must say I'm troubled by this.
