Post Toshiba fights back with HD DVD price cuts

Even before the dust has settled on the Las Vegas CES, Toshiba has responded to Warner’s plan to choke its HD DVD system of content by slashing prices on players to US dealers. The HD-A3, which was subject to heavy discounting in last year’s Black Friday sales, has now been repriced at 149 dollars, [...]

Re: Toshiba fights back with HD DVD price cuts

"The HD-A3, which was subject to heavy discounting in last year’s Black Friday sales, has now been repriced at 149 dollars, with the HD-A30 priced at 200 dollars. The high-end HD-A35 sells 300 dollars; the players come with 10 free discs."

So when do we expect to see the "A35" in the UK for £150 with 10 disc's then..........

Still good on Toshiba for sticking with it, without them high def DVD would be still very expensive.

long live the war

the winner will be the consumer instead of the mega corp.

The consumer wins for the time being.

An EP 35 for £150 would be tempting

Re: Toshiba fights back with HD DVD price cuts

I agree that the consumer is winning with the format war, long may it rage I say.

Some people would have you believe that this 'war' is bad for the consumer. What? A monopoly bad for the consumer? Wake up!

I've no doubt that if there was only one format we'd be paying £40 for the 'privilege' of owning a high def movie, instead of buying them from the US for a tenner! Amazon, and i'm sure other retailers, are heavily discounting loads of movies on blu-ray, probably in retaliation, which is good for me and my PS3
