Are you using a VGA cable? I found mine only worked for a lot of files if the res was set to 640x480. The divx also needs to be v5.0 or above and using MP3 sound, not PCM. I had to re-encode a couple of old videos using VirtualDub to solve that.

And I haven't actually tried HDMI yet.

Mine is set up via Component And I'm using the latest divx update. Not sure why Xbox state Divx support if you can't just put a disc in and play

Re: Xbox 360 update adds DivX and Xvid support

Using VGA at 1280 x 1024, tested DivX and Xvid after the update - Works fine except one film where I just got sound and no picture but this was an older file and probably pre DivX 5.0. Every other one I tested worked perfectly!

Also, I played Ratatouille Xvid which was AC3 encoded and played perfectly, just need to test it when plugged in to my reciever and hopefully get DD 5.1

Not tested if you can stream DivX/Xvid from MCE PC yet. Has anyone done this yet?

Well done Microsoft, took a while though !!

Don't understand this ?
How is the twice a year update a quick reaction to what Sony plan monthly ? So they binned what they had been planning just because Sony said they are going to add in the next update ? I think Sony/Microsoft have both taken a big step for consoles.

Re: Xbox 360 update adds DivX and Xvid support

You could before the update play .mkv files with h264 video as long as the audio is in stereo AAC format.
Videora Xbox 360 converter's mkv passthrough mode can acheive this with h264+ac3-mkv's.

This is from a USB HDD connected to the Xbox 360.

Re: Xbox 360 update adds DivX and Xvid support

TO update divx you need to play a divx movie from a cd to get the latest update.
Play the cd via the Video option in the blade.

At least thats how it worked for me.

Ok

Scoobyjay

PS The new HD download movies are 6gb.........
