Post Third hi-def format still in the game

Re: Third hi-def format still in the game

I actually bought a V2000 recorder. What a great move by me that was. The PQ was better than VHS and Betamax, and I found at least 2 places in Bristol that had a few titles for rent as well! Those were the days! I can't understand why I haven't bought an HD player yet. Maybe this is the version I need. Can't wait to play "Hunt a store that rents out discs on this format" game.
Now, if this format could offer us a recorder version onto dual-layer discs already available, then maybe, just maybe they would soon become the hi-def system to have. To be able to record say films on to hi-def discs straight from a Sky box? A winner surely. Too simple an idea eh?

Surely you've figured out that manufacturers *don't* want you to make home recordings? Not of movies for you to keep, certainly!

Yay!! Another (almost) proud V2000 owner!! They were the days indeed. I think my electronics purchasing decisions have almost always tarnished a formats chances of survival. We went for Betamax, but actually exchanged it for V2000 as we thought it was superior and quality will always win.
We got BSB instead of Sky as the picture quality was better, chose DCC over MiniDisc, then bought MiniDisc later on instead of considering a home CD recorder. Philips CDi player... MSX Computer, LaserDisc (though when i upgraded to a "flipper" i did have the foresight to import a Region 1 LaserDisc/DVD combi). I'm sure the elctronics graveyard (that would be the loft) has many more secrets but I daren't look in case i work out how much money i wasted :D
Just for the record, I bought an HD-DVD drive for my 360 but decided to level the playing field about a month ago by buying a PS3.. Maybe this 3rd format is onto a winner!

Re: Third hi-def format still in the game

seems bollywood will roll out on vmd then , youd think since india has the largest (i think) if not one of the largest film industries either BD or HDDVD would be made possible in india. I would have thought BD would have caught on over there considering Sony has alot of dealings in the audio sector in bollywood...

VMD
