The complacent and presumptuous arrogance behind that statement. It's up to the consumer to chase the hardware manufacturer's each time you up the complexity of encryption (and post haste)? That's one way to convince the consumer to invest in a new format.

Will be interesting to see how the title plays on the PS3. If all is well, would be worth a purchase, especially as I didn't get to see it at cinema. I mean, I'd be able to get it on Blu Ray for keeps for not much more than the tickets would have cost me at my local cinema (for a family of 4).

i will be really miffed if i can't play this on my br player- i paid 1000 for it-- panasonic better not be complacent.i 2 haven't seen the movie- just ordered it and waiting del due 2 postal strike

Bet it would be a better PQ on HD-DVD with VC-1 ...
