Consumers expecting more reductions in the street price of LCD TVs this autumn are likely to be disappointed; panel prices have actually begun to rise. ExplainsMin Hoo-sik from Tempis Capital Management: “This rise in LCD prices is attributed to a decreasing supply from LCD makers, which decided to scale back investment.”

Limit supply to drive up prices and margins in what we are lead to believe is a very competitive market. All/most panel makers would need to do the same though.

I'll go with the propoganda theory.
