Post Sony pulls the plug on download music store

Sony has pulled the plug on its Connect music service in Europe. Conceding that it is unable to make headway against existing music download stores, the company will instead open up its Walkman audio players to non-DRM music files. Seems like a strange decision whilst they are supposedly trying to launch downloadable media (films etc) services for the PS3, you would think they would have tried combining the two services.

If the PS3 does actually start selling in the quantities that it should do then you would have thought that a music store accessable from the PS3 through the PSN with music downloaded also accessable via a PSP or similar sony portable device from any wifi hotspot around the world would be a major selling point.
