LG increases large screen plasma production

Post LG increases large screen plasma production

LG says it has developed a new plasma production technique, which it dubs ‘8-up’, to increase PDP production at its panel making facility in Gumi, Korea. The brand’s new A3 plasma line can now produce eight panels instead of six from one glass substrate. This increases its monthly production capacity from 360,000 to 440,000 panels. [...]

..Interesting (and sorry if this has been done to death on another forum) but given giants such as Sony (and Toshiba) have stopped producing plasmas ...isn't the end nigh for that technology?

or will Plasmas become a cheaper niche' product eventually?

Sony and Toshiba bought in their plasma panels but make their own LCD's. It was a question of economics and not a true reflection of the market.

Plasma remains a superior display technology and Panasonic and Samsung are also healthy panel producers.
