Post Apple TV on Target

It may be a pointless product in the UK, but the Apple TV media streamer has some powerful friends in the US. Mass-market retailer Target now says it will distribute the unit across the US, joining CE retail goliath Best Buy. While Apple isn’t talking up sales for the Apple TV device, chief financial officer [...]

Re: Apple TV on Target

What makes it a pointless product in the UK? My laptop outputs SVGA and S-VHS and my TV accepts HDMI and Component Video (But not SVGA) so I can't currently get a HD signal from my computer to the TV set - which is driving me mad with frustration!

Re: Apple TV on Target

Some consider it pointless because of the very limited amount of video content available for purchase from the UK iTunes store. In the US there's much more video based material to download. Of course you can still put your own content into iTunes, but it's more limited in it's appeal until Apple get into gear and start making content available from their UK store.

Re: Apple TV on Target

Thanks for that succinct and helpful reply which provided the answer I wanted. ! I must have been looking at the USA shop when I saw lots of video material available for purchase. I should have guessed the reason why the Apple TV wouldn't be much use over here - but thanks for pointing me in the right direction. My original problem still remains - I've got an HD Ready television and no way of getting an HD signal into it (from my laptop computer)! Back to the drwing board, I guess ....
