French studios back red laser HD format

Wannabe hi-def format HD VMD will launch in France with software support from two French studios. Seven Sept and Metropolitan FilmExport have both pledged 20 titles for release in the autumn, with regular releases to follow. I understand that the majority of Bollywood and Far East releases are going to this format.

Any confusion is bad, admittedly, but it's good to wrestle full control from the big bully boys.

Soon enough we'll all just have disk space in a Server Farm via hyper-broadband and no more physical formats anymore.

Is this the same format that China are pushing in their own country or is that a different format ( can not remember where I read it )
