Post Arcam preparing new high-end all-in-one system

Arcam has revealed that it's going to be launching a high-end 'one-box' home cinema system in the new year. The Arcam Solo Movie 5.1 will launch at the Bristol Show in February, will apparently retail for a price of around £2000, and is being designed to, in Arcam's words, 'change the perception...

Well I hope it "changes the perception of what a one-box system is capable of"
because I saw it demonstrated at the Stuff show in November and it didn't light my fire. Save a £1000 and buy the Denon s301 instead. Arcam, if you want to convince me otherwise I'm quite happy to do a home trial for you.

merry christmas, Paul

I have to disagree, the S-301 system is an awful sounding bit of kit. I really don't see or hear the appeal in it one bit.

Save up a bit more & buy a Naim nvi, all in one thats aclassy sounding system. Naims in adifferent league than Arcams laid back pipe & slipper sound!

Each to their own I suppose. But I've demoed a lot of all in ones and in my opinion the Denon is certainly up there with the best. It doesn't do true 5.1, but it's not meant to. What it does do is provide a great, easy to use convenient package without a load of boxes and wires. It also sounds convincing in stereo which most HC sytems don't.
My comments about the Arcam were based soley on a quite frankly shoddy presentation at the Stuff show. I'm sure when it's set up properly by a decent retailer like yourself Crustyloafer, then it will out perform most all in one systems. But at a cost of £2000 plus a decent speaker system, it flippin well should! After all the biggest critism I've seen of the Denon hasn't been it's performance, but it's cost!
