Well they shouldn't have announced that...people will complain now whether they see a degradation or not!

Typical, they reduced DAB bitrates to the extent FM is now considered to be of better sound quality. The HD feed will now probably be reduced to a quality fit only for screen sizes 32" and below....

Personally I reckon the BBC stuff so far has been a very mixed bag, the showreel and things like Bleak House and Later with Jools have been great, but others like Sorted, Mrs Pritchard and Lead Balloon have been dissapointing to say the least, looking little if any better than the standard versions. Sport seems to be the only consistant high on ALL the channels.

Re: BBC to downgrade quality of its HD trial channel

I'm not sure if the difference in PQ is caused by the type of programme being shot.

It appears to me that Wildlife/Natural History programmes always look good, whilst indoor, well-lit concerts look good ('Later...', 'BBC One Sessions: CBR').

But comedies/dramas 'Amazing Mrs P...', 'Lead Baloon' always look close to SD.

I'm sure there's a reason for this.
