It was publicly made as a press release that they were exiting analogue CRT development for Japan - all future CRT products would have ISDB-T integrated.

Panasonic have also recently stated that they would offer DVB-T integrated in all their sets for Europe and stop analog CRT (but DVB-T CRT would continue.)

Our Panasonic rep has confirmed that the only CRT model that they are going to range will be the 21" 4:3 CRT (surprisingly) and that they will be concentrating on flat panel and new technologies - yes, i guess this rumour is pretty accurate.

I thought Sony had already cut CRT production, or have they just stopped making the tubes, but still building sets?

why should anyone be surprised that Panasonic/Sony etall will no longer be producing CRT. Makes economical sense that this particular product is now a "dead duck". Must look to the future, and in some cases, compliment the past.
