| Re: Nokia suing Apple over the iPhone
As has been said, Nokia have the right to sue Apple if they think that Apple have breached patent laws. And although Nokia is clearly the 'big dog' in this case, and Apple are the underdog (in terms of the mobile phone market at any rate) I do feel that Nokia have a better policy towards the way research should be shared to adapt and improve that market as a whole. Which Apple has a history of actively prohibiting.
However, it is clear that Nokia chose this time specifically to either a) inflict as much damage on Apple as possible, or b) increase the chances of a legal victory as much as possible. There is no coincidence that Nokia chose now to bring legal proceedings forward, there are rarely any coincidences with the movements and tactics of companies of this size.
Being fairly 'anti-Apple' I hope that Nokia when their case, because although I find it a little unlikely that Apple are indeed in breach of patent laws, I think that they should at the very least share their technology with other companies, who have more experience with mobile phones lets face it, and broaden and improve the market in the way that Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung etc have been doing for years.
