FYI, I'm pleased to say that IAG and myself have come to a mutually acceptable agreement. They've carried out my repairs and the DAC upgrade for £300, which seems reasonable to me. I'm kinda excited to hear the new DAC, it was the one part of my system that I was a little bit unhappy bit.... in fact I was considering forking out £750 for a new Audio Zone DAC!

DVD 32R Fixed, Serviced and Early

Just thought I would throw a good news story in. DVD32R laser mech died. Called helpdesk who talked me through some "push this button"s and then told me it had to go back.

I drove it up to the factory myself and received a call to give me the repair price (which was much lower than I feared) followed by another call to let me know it was done.

All in all I was without my player for about 3 weeks. worked faultlessly since and I am once again enjoying the quality of Tag McLaren kit :-)

I'd like to clarify that mine is a good news story too! Have now got the unit back (they sent it next day to Ireland), it looks like new and sounds better than ever. I must say though, I'm not exactly bowled over by the DAC upgrade (although it certainly is a worthwhile improvement), it improves all of the strong areas of the 96kHz TAG DAC, but bass weight and definition are still lacking for my tastes. If Audiolab could marry the virtues of the TAG DAC with the bass definition and weight of a Musical Fidelity DAC, they'd be on to a real winner!

I'm new to this forum.

My CDT20R-T2L is recently developing a fault. So I look through the IAG website, but I couldn't find any information regarding the TMA product .

Does anybody know how can I contact the TMA helpdesk?

I really appreciate your help .

Come on guys, what on earth are you thinking? If it's a faulty CD player, Kevin's your man at www.theaudiocellar.co.uk - he'll be half the time and hasn't been beaten by one yet in all the years he's been fixing Audiolab / Tag stuff!

Mods, what's happened to the sticky at the top about his services? He's fixed dozens of CD transports and AV32R's recently, but I see it's dissapeared. Any chance of resurrecting it?

Just my two-penneth...... Regards - Spencer

I agree, Spencer, its a damn useful piece of information. I suspect that a fair number of the newbies would breath a sigh of relief when finding that upon arrival.

It will probably save the endless creation of threads by people seeking help.

Thumbs up

Have to agree that Kevin is the man when it comes to Audiolab/Tag. Not only a master with a soldering iron, he is also happy to offer advice and practical support to those in need. He cheerfully answered all my queries when I constantly pestered him during research for upgrades and my wife still holds him personally responsible for all 'those bloody black boxes' in the corner! Of course, his trip to London to pick up some bargain Audiolab gear for me is another story!

Well said...

Kevin is, indeed, the man when it comes to TAG/Audiolab repairs. I recently drove down (to his spot) to get my TAG 60iRv serviced by the man. Excellent service, sound advice and a cheap price compared to the IAG quotation. The amp is back to its excellent sounding self. I'd recommend anybody suffering TAG issues to contact Kevin first.

Dr Marc Dominic.

Re: FAO IAG Personell....Problems/Suggestions/Complaints

It seems that Dual Processor Upgrade is out of stock, aka no longer available.

Guys from IAG are not very adapting people when you ask questions...

Let's hope that if the Upgrade quantities are depleted that they still have enough boards to honour repairs.

Cheers

Re: FAO IAG Personell....Problems/Suggestions/Complaints

nexus 6 - the DAC will mute if it is not receiving valid data, so you need to work out what has happened to cause this situation.

I'd be inclined to suggest that either the interconnect is at fault, or the CDM has a failed digital output, or the DAC has a failed input. There are of course other possible causes too, but these are the most likey from experience.

Have you accidentally shorted the digital interconnect at any time (assuming you are not using optical) or plugged digital signal leads in while it was powered up?
