Nexus 7 - can't switch on

Hi I have just got a Nexus 7 - inspired by the thread on here. When I got it I charged it overnight as the rather light manual suggested a charge first. The Nexus worked for a couple of hours then stopped.

I can't switch on (or I can and the screen isn't coming on). So I am not sure if there is a problem with the on/off switch (I have held it down for 10+ seconds) or that it actually isn't taking a charge.

When I charge it there is nothing to indicate that it is being charged as I woud expect. I am using the official charger that came with it, but no joy from mains or USB fom PC....yet I can see that it is connected to my PC when I plug the charger through that - and browse files on it.

Sometime when I hold the button for 10+ seconds I will see the Google name and then is goes again, or the multi colured cross (x) then it vanishes very fast.

Should I be seeing a charge symbol when charging?

Think it has to go back unless I am doing something very stupid!

Yes, but only for the first 30 to 60 seconds.
Have you tried jiggling the USB connector end in the charger? With mine I sometimes have to move it a bit before charging starts.

Yes I have tried that - never see a symbol at all

just started working for some reason....very confusing

...and just stopped working again, even though it is fully charged and was working 2 minutes ago. I think it is the screen/display that is not working....

Going to have to go back which is annoying as I have taken a long time setting it up and getting everything like skydrive, NAS streaming, email etc all working properly.

And they are out of stock now!!!!!!! Grrrrrrr.

The tablet has screen lift anyway, so not overly happy with that anyway.

Hi just recently got the nexus 7 and wondered if anyone can tell me how i can turn off the touch type tones when on gmail , everytime i type a letter on the keyboard i get the "pinging" tones. Thanks
