Cool, will probably get that when I finally put an order in. I'm sure that I read somewhere that you can put it in Airplane mode and then turn on the wifi manually? Just wondering if I'm just around the house then I can turn off the signal radio as its just going to be on wifi at home, and save more battery life (ie. In cases where it might be borderline signal and it wastes more time 'searching' for a 3G lock).

I've just done that & yes you can manually turn wifi on whilst on airplane mode done it on mobile phones b4 so yep glad that ta still able to do it in here

You can turn off a whole host of settings to aid the batteries life or you can preset it to shut them off for you upon reaching certain levels of battery remaining etc !!!

I'm thinking of Giff Gaff. £5 a month and 500mb data, and it uses the 02 network.

That's what I use. I just use the pay and go option. I don't use 3G very often so it only costs 20p per day if I need to use it

Hi all

Well I've been playing the tab, absolutely loving it.. but the only downside is that I can't use bbc iplayer on it. Gutted!

Downloaded the app and it says not supported!

Tried using the web browser and same error message.

Johnny! I would recommend it, right size and good display screen

Just perfect.

Johnathan, where has the tab in stock? I've tried looking at online websites, but only carphonewarehouse has them. And that's only the Wi-Fi version.

Do you mean to go have a look at? Or to buy? Physical shop is just Carphone Warehouse - will nip into town on lunch break - then if all is well then I will order from Panamoz.

Yeah! I mean to hold it and play with it. Haha that doesn't sound so good!

I wanted to play with it before purchasing it from panamoz, but I was keen follower on this thread. So I purchased last Sunday night and it came on Friday morning.

I would personally say this is much better than the iPad. At least you can upgrade the memory micro sd .
Good amoled screen as well!

Hi

Has anyone of you tab owners have the infra red port on your tab?

I had the 6200 and mine had a infra red port. It was handy ,but not way could it replace your remote controls. As it was limited

Just asking as my cheap silicon case has an opening for the infra red port.

Well, managed to get into town today and to Carphone Warehouse. After fighting off the chap who works there, I managed to have a good 20-30 minutes with the unit, and the Tab 10.1 and Transformer Prime that was along side it. Tested full fat web pages in both landscape and portrait and looked at hte overall weight and feel etc.

I found that reading full webpages in portrait was just about possible, though it was much easier to read in landscape, with obvioulsy lots more scrolling. Loading of media heavy pages (think football websites, bbc main/sport landing pages) wasnt as smooth as on the Prime, but I can forgive it.

The unit felt much more pleasant to hold (tough to guage as there was a giant security tag on the back of each of them), though much like the HTC legend I had a while back with a aluminium unibody, I think that it might be a little tough to grip one handed - Any comments on that from all you owners? The weight of the things is really nice. The virtual keyboard was easily usable in portrait mode, and i had to use one hand in landscape, which makes sense really.

Screen wise, I have to say the Prime looked better, though that might have something to do with the display mode that both models might have been on, I dunno. Web pages displayed well enough, and even tried out a bit of iplayer watching abit of the f1 highlights. The quality wasnt great, though I did notice that even though i went to iplayer through the full bbc homepage, it went to the mobile eqivalent (or at least not he full page). Maybe using Dolphin, setting the user agent to desktop might result in better streams.

Youtube with HQ streams were much better, I looked up some of the vid reviews of the 7.7 that I knew went into proper HQ and they looked fine in full screen.

Homescreen performance was as most reviews said, and I'm going to put it down to Touch Wiz, so thats that. I'd probably get rid of all the widgets anyway.

All in all, quite happy with the unit, so now need to make the decision about whether or not its worth that much money. Its a lot of money, so just trying to justify to myself that I actually need it.

Oh, if anyone else is interested, Tina confirmed to me that you can pay through BACS and that there is no difference in the purchase except the payment method (ie. Its not some shady off the books things, that never existed). She said to me that I would contact her with what I want and then they would pass on the details for me to take it further.

Decision time...
JP

My collegues pink leather Noreve leather case arrived today for her Galaxy S2.

Style is very similar to the Stilgut cases I have for the Galaxy Note (a Real Leather one and a Synthetic 'Art' Leather one).

She wasn't impressed! Its basically a thinner case shell to the Stilgut with Leather purely glued. Only stitching is on the hinge piece holding the back to the front and inside glued leather is coming away at one edge.

Glad I didn't purchase one as it doesn't look anywhere near as good as the Stilgut quality which is fully stitched, and the inside cover facing the screen on the Noreve is also leather rather than the much better microfibre cloth material which IMO is much better as front screen contact material. The 7.7 case looks same from the website photos and those posted in the thread further back.

On a plus it is lighter/thinner (but will also give less drop protection) and the leather is nice quality but no more than the Stilgut Real Leather case (No real leather option for the GT7.7 case with Stilgut).

Then pay on the credit card so you have some protection ...
