Q Acoustics 1000S Standby Problem

Hallo all,

I am new to the forum and new to home cinema. I have saved my pennies and just bought a Q Acoustics 1000i series 5.1 speaker package and an Onkyo Tx-SR505E receiver.

I am having a problem with the sub. It often switches itself into standby when the receiver is still on and putting out a signal. The sub then does not come back on until I unplug it from the receiver and plug it back it, or till I startup a my PS3 and put in a game or DVD it seems to 'like'. I understand that if the bass level is to low, the sub might not come on. But I have played DTS PS3 games and DVD's and it does the same thing. Surely it should always remain on in these situations.

The sub not coming on when I want and deciding to switch itself on and off is really annoying. Especially seeing as it decides to be off more than on. Can anybody help or offer some advice. I have had the sub shipped to me here in Holland and really do not want to have to send it back.

Thank you so much.
Kind regards,

James

Re: Q Acoustics 1000S Standby Problem

Hi jamesbytheway - And welcome to AVForums I am sorry to hear you are haveing problems with you're sub, the only thing I can think of is if the sub has an Auto on & off ? If it does then they can sometimes be a pain and it is common that when the signal is too low it does not awake the sub

If it has the option of constant on or bypass the auto function then I would do that, if all else fails then it may be a faulty unit and you will need to call you supplier.

Re: Q Acoustics 1000S Standby Problem

Assuming you've tried turning the subs gain control down and the amsp sub channel control up to provided a stronger signal, I'm afraid it sounds like a faulty one.

If returning it is a problem, you'll have to get used to turning it on and off manually when required or use remote control power sockets like these.

In the end, problems like these seldom get better, so I'd return it ASAP which will leave you with more of your warranty left to cover this, or any other problems that may arise.

Re: Q Acoustics 1000S Standby Problem

The sub automatically goes into standby if it receives no signal or the signal is too low. I had to turn the gain on the 1000i sub down to about one quarter or less and then increase the level on the amp. It now receives a stronger signal and hence doesn't go into standby when in use
