old yamaha subs

Quick question please!!!

Just updated a lot of my old AV equipment,I have an Onkyo 605 receiver but until the wife decides otherwise I'm stuck with connecting it to two old Yamaha yst-sw60 subs(don't laugh they were quite expensive when I brought them!!)

Now I've connected them up ,but they are not really putting out a great deal of punch or bass(they did actually sound ok with my old Technics amp).Tried altering the setup menu on the amp but still not any better. Is it because I'm using 2 subwoofers and splitting the signal,or would they benefit from better cables....or should I just start saving for a new sub??????

many thanks!!!!!

Re: old yamaha subs

Have you tried reversing the phase on them to see if that helps you at all?

Re: old yamaha subs

On the back of the subs it has two settings 'nom' and 'rev',the old Yamaha instruction book tells me it should be set to 'nom',can't really tell much difference to be honest....I think they may just be past their sell by date...
