need to buy a sub £300 max

Hi guys i need to buy a sub (powered) can any one recomend a good one that can be had for no more than £300 max.

I want something that looks realy good.

so far i have got the following that i like:

KEF HTB2 ( http://www.hifibitz.co.uk/product.asp?id=5614)
Audio Pro SUB B1.28 ( http://www.hifibitz.co.uk/product.asp?id=3854)
Pioneer S-W160S Subwoofer ( http://www.hifibitz.co.uk/product.asp?id=5457)
Tannoy TS10 Subwoofer ( http://www.hifibitz.co.uk/product.asp?id=2920)

as you can see from the above, they all look nice but i do not know much about performance wise. i want to use it 70% movies and 30% music, ow and i can get the KEF HTB2 for £300 before anyone says its £500 as some retailers sell it for £350 brand new.

I dont mind buying seconhand either aslong as it works and is in great condition.

thanks guys

Not heard any of those but a friend has a BK XLS200 and for £289 and a tiny box it certainly delivers a decent amount of bass.

Apart from second hand, the XLS 200 will probably be the best sub you can get for 300, or if you go second hand you could always buy two of them

Honestly though, if you want new get the xls200, if you want 2nd hand keep an eye out for a second hand Monolith.

Just my 2p worth.

look here for details.

Re: need to buy a sub £300 max

Thanks guys, i like the fact that no one said anything about the Subs i listed and everyone recomended non of them lol.

I dont like the look of the Monolith and i would be greatful if anyone can provide any links to their recomendations.

BK XLS 200 looks nice in black but what price does it start at and how does it compare with the subs i listed, does it bet them all?

I'll give you 2:1 that it even beats them all in all your required areas. Price is as seen for any of the finishes.

Re: need to buy a sub £300 max

i would say then this one looks good from the series: XLS200-DF for only 290 quid. but it dosnt look as nice as the ones in my list, is their not any that look good? i wanted something in a piano black finish.

Re: need to buy a sub £300 max

I read someone on here managed to get a gloss black monolith by asking BK nicely. Not sure if they charged extra but might be worth an email. They are very accomodating people.

(proud owner of a new DF-oak monolith :D)

Looks seldom dictate the performance on offer. If they did, the Audio Pro would be the most popular sub since creation.

Buy the BK XLS-200.

Russell

PS. IIRC, BK won't do a piano black, but they'll do a gloss black that is as near as dammit. You'll have to ask nicely though.

Re: need to buy a sub £300 max

Go for the xls200. I got one a couple of months back and it's the best performance you're going to get out of a sub below the £300 mark.

Re: need to buy a sub £300 max

Based on room size alone, the Monolith would be the more sensible sub.
