MS 309W Sub----improving output

What is best setting for this sub. My bass output seems quite weak and no matter what I try it does not fill me with sound the way I would like.

I have read about notch filter, but do not know how to use.... Any help?

It is cnnected to Denon AVR - 1906

Thanks

JIM

Re: MS 309W Sub----improving output

Where is it positioned in the room, how big is the room, where do you sit and have you tried it somewhere else?

It could be that you're sitting in a null caused by the rooms standing waves cancelling each other. It could be that your room is simply too large. It would have to be really big, or have openings to other rooms that you can't close for this to be an issue.

The only way to be sure is to try it elsewhere and preferably buy yourself a Radio Shack SPL meter and start measuring it's output.

Re: MS 309W Sub----improving output

Yeah, those instuctions in the box are pretty naff, and only show setting up via the notch filter and an SPL meter.

I'd tried in vain to get settings on this forum but at the end of the day as russ.will says you've got to experiment yourself as eveybodys settings will be different with room sizes, furnishings etc.. it took me a while to realise this, so don't waste your time in trying to get peoples settings.

I did not get a SPL meter, just set crossover at 80 volume I have at just over half , I upped it from well under half and found I was happier with the sound, even though that's probably too high. The other buttons I left at half.

Now I know I should get a meter and sort it out be not got round to it yet, as I still think I could get better, tighter base.
