My new sub,finally I get the Pure Sound!!

Hi all!, finally, I decided to go with the psw-102 of Pure Sound(a big sub),wich is much bigger than 309i, and can go really deep

specifications:

20-150Hz
12" driver
150Watt
bass reflex enclosure
21x20x17(inches)
Low Level-Hi Level connections
really nice finish(piano black)

the price...incredible!!...here in spain 420 Euros(almost 450/500$), but it sound as subs in 1000$(ok, may be not as an SVS PB12, but I'm pretty sure it's not very far).Some pics:

Now I have a real serious deep bass, with no distortion and an incredible sound presure, in my large room(almost 40m2)...in the FOTP, my face was woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow!!!!really accurate deep bass,at this price!!

well, now I love this sub, but I wonder if some of you have any idea of it??

Hmmm havn't heard one, but that port on the bottom dosnt look very "flow" like. Interesting.

Ah well at least your enjoying the thing and yes piano gloss is a gorgeouss finish!

thanks for posting!! ...and why don't you look it very flow??it's a very big port, almost 6inch of usable port...

yes I love it, it cost the same as 309i, but it twice bigger, and deeper ...could you recommend to me some good bass test for it??(specially in the 20Hz level), as I said before, I tried the flight of the phoenix, and the scene of the barrel roll it shaked my trousers (it's a feeling more than a sound!) with absolute precision and no distortion, but I want more
!!! ...I'm very impressed with this sub, I can't believe I have such a good sub at that price!!

tell me how can I make it a good test, so we can compare it with monolith and SB12(at least I think it can hold itself well , I hope )

EDIT:yes, you can buy it in e-bay, but there are several shops in spain(as with pure acoustics)...and, the only flesh pic I can offer to you is this:

it is a famous white van speakers.
what is white van speakers? search on google. you might want to return to the seller fast.

¿¿¿¿¿?????? I don't know what are you speaking about, but the brand of the psw-102 is "Pure Sound"(spain),wich is the "high end" brand of "Pure Acoustics"(indeed, this is the top end sub) http://www.pure-acoustics.com/ and it has some shops in spain(at least)...

Despite all, do you think that I bought it in a dark alley or something like that??? I ordered it by phone(banking transference), and just in 2 days it was at home(with manual and warranty) by an official transport company!!, and if you could see this sub, may be you will get impressed by it's quality in all aspects...I have listened the PS 201 New York, and many other products of this brand and I can assure that this is an awesome speakers brand(may be the best speaker I have ever listened to)...

i am sorry. if u check the website u posted, it is very poor.

the reviews came from unknown magazines....i have never seen a reputable speaker manufacturers so shy to give more info about themselves.

just helping to tell u i heard of this pure acoustic and was told it is a white van speaker, that means the parts are cheap components which cost way less then they are selling.

have u search for pure acoustic on google?

if u enjoy it then better to leave as it is.

Contrary to your claims, the website is well-designed and contains full company information and contact details. The reviews are from Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity, Area DVD, DVD Vision and Best Buys - hardly unknown or cowboy publications.

PS All hifi speakers use components the sum of which cost many multiples less than the retail price! This is not the definition of a 'white van speaker'.

The view down the port does not inspire confidence.The port should be clear of obstructions to function as designed. Two out of two, both showing poor foam attachment is not a good sign.

No wires should be visible down the port either. IMO. Both show visible wires.

The port radius is rather small but possibly acceptable. Are larger radius ports too expensive at this price level?

One would have to be a very contrary "white van man" indeed to design a box this difficult to make and finish to a high standard. Curved side panels need curved reinforcing battens. This must add to the cost and difficulty of manufacture. Curved panels are desirable both from an acoustic and structural point of view.

I would have liked to see a much higher standard of finish to the panel surrounding the driver. Many (most) owners would like to see their driver in action at least some of the time. The bottom panel (which is never seen when in use) is highly finished. Why not the driver baffle? This just doesn't make any sense to me. The driver isn't exactly pretty so perhaps the designer thought he'd get away with an ugly baffle panel to match? Nah.

All this doesn't mean it isn't (potentially) a decent enough design.

Dack, thanks for the advice, but I think you are on a very big mistake...you said that the pure acoustics web is very poor?????? ...poor information??? ...without any doubt, there is the same information any brand will give you, and it's may be one of the best speaker web sites I have visited(it has music ), indeed, there are a lot of pages of very famous brands much worse, for example wharfedale http://www.wharfedale.co.uk/type.php?type_id=4(horrible page), mordaunt short, klipsch, etc.Really, I can't believe you have said that ...

About the port pic...the port is NOT obstructed by any wire(despite pic)...the wire is far from the port, and why is the foam a problem??, we can't see the rest of the box, so may be it has to be just there by design , and why no wires should be visible through the port??, I can see wires through the port of my Tannoy F3 and there isn't any problem with that , but I agree it woul be better not to see wires anyway ...
Do you think 6" is a small port??? ...the monolith has a 100mm(4") port¿¿?? as you said, I agree curved panels make it a bit better(and hard to do by miser white van men), and as I said before too, I think that if some of you could see the finish of this sub, you would be very impressed, it's far better than what you see in those bad pics, believe me!! .Damn it!!, I can't believe some of you think this sub has been made by "white van men"!!!

Finally, Nimby,why do you think that the panel surrounding the driver is not good??? it's so well finished as the entire sub...(and the grille)

the sub certainley looks the part. the finish is excellent. i must agree with the comments about the foam, and those barewires as long as your happy with it, then thats what counts. on reading the spanish ebay listing i noticed there was a paragraph that stated the unit was compareable ...with............ SONY...YAMAHA... subs etc. to be honest they dont set the world on fire with there subs..so some clever wording methinks. the seller didnt put the likes of rel, velodyne etc as a comparision.. like i said before as long as you like it..thats what counts............did you research this item first ..or was it a impulse purchase.? my first sub was a velodyne..which i bought after a lot of good reviews and chat off these forums ived moved on to a 2nd hand rel ..which i enjoy immensley

My apologies. I was confused by the reflection of the floor in the shiny baffle finish. I thought I was seeing an unsprayed baffle. Your last picture finally makes this clear and it looks very fine indeed.

Do you say that this subwoofer has a 6" diameter (150mm) port?

WinISD using the first available 12" sub driver and a 100 liter enclosure suggests a 30Hz tune with a 48cm long x 15 cm diameter port.

Nope the website isn't poor but actually one of the better audio manufacturer ones I've seen. It contains at least as much info as the average loudspeaker manufacturers website and the company also makes known its address(with tel. no) and provides some company history too.

You say the reviews came from unknown magazines, well that just grossly wrong! Secrets of Home Theater and Hi Fi Review are both among the more trustworthy equipment reviewers.

This to me is a legitimate company. It looks like they don't bother with the UK market at all.
