Going rate for BFD?

Hi there,
I'm tempted to get a Behringer Feedback Destroyer for when I move into my new house, and I understand they are a bit tricky to get a hold of these days. Can anybody indicate to me how much the different models are these days, say second hand?

cheers!

Re: Going rate for BFD?

Second hand, about £70-85 depending upon condition. This is only for the favoured (by sub users) 1124. This is the one for which the greatest knowledge base exists and therefore, is the one to go for.

The 1124's replacement, the 2496 retails for abour £120 IIRC.

That's the influence of supply and demand. As Behringer have dropped the DSP1124P altogether, any ones which do find their way to the market are a rare commodity, hence the increase in S/H value.

OK, thanks for the answers. I'll go email Total-Music and see what they say.

2 to 1 that they won't have stock and that their web site hasn't been updated to reflect that the 1124P is discontinued.

Re: Going rate for BFD?

This is very odd. My favorite chain of Danish musical instrument shops is still showing the 1124 as standard stock.

It won't be earthed for British use though. You get a 2-pin unearthed plug attached on everything electronic over here. Not ideal for a fused plug UK system. Over here the fuses are back in the consumer unit. So one of these would be unfused and therefore unprotected in the UK. Unless anybody knows different.

CE certification should require that the unit works and is safe in any EU country. The IEC connector on the back (kettle lead to most) allows the user to replace the cable with one appropriate for their locale. Also, don't confuse uneathered with unfused. Most equipment will have it's own fuse in addition to the one that may be present in the UK lead.

From my limited and amateur understanding, the reason that UK plugs are fused are because we use ring-main systems rather than spurs/busses which are what is used in mainland Europe. This means more potential current and a more important need for limits to current flow.

Re: Going rate for BFD?

Not that this will have much bearing on the BFD's use, unless like me you disconnect the earth to get rid of earth hum, the BFD is not double insulated as designated by the double insulation symbol.
