M&K K10 opinions??

How good is it??

It's from a reputable company, claims good specs etc...

I've been offered one ex-dem with full warranty from my dealer for £299 which seems like a bargain tbh, but is it worth it? I know you can BK ones for similar cash, namely the XLS2000... is one noticeably better than the other, and for different things? It'll never be used for music, so is AV only hence i reckon it's a good buy... but i can't find too many reviews.

As i'm sure the usual helpful bunch know i'm after something small that isn't going to annoy the girl in the flat below too much... so punch over depth is probably desireable, hence it seems to fit the bill nicely.

Is it worth it for £299 or should i buy the BK, or save more... it's very tricky to get demo's round here, ideally i'd like to try the M&K next to the Dynaudio Sub 250 as i really like the look of that, but don't know of anywhere that has both in stock to try...

Thanks again!

Re: M&K K10 opinions??

Is it a K10 or KX10? The K10 will be at least 2 years old now, and doesn't involve the SF driver. As good as it is for the size, compared to the KX10's rrp of £450 (probably available for about £300/350 now), i think a dealer will have to sell it for about £250.

If it is a KX10, it's a cracking little sub for £299. Admittedly it's not the sub to go for if pure depth is needed, but it kicks anus and it's tight (the sub i mean). You'll probably pick up the KX12 for about £400, which is a little bigger, but very compact for a sub using a 12" driver.

Re: M&K K10 opinions??

It is the KX10... tbh it sounds perfect as i don't really want uber deep bass as that i'm sure will upset the neighbours... i'd rather have a nice tight punchy setup for what is there.

I think the KX12 might be pushing it a little... sure it's larger but then we get into the depth thing.

£299 did strike me as rather good.... maybe i'll investigate further

Cheers!

It's certainly small neat and that's a jolly good price. M&K should go out of business more often.

Are you sure you won't miss the action at the bottom end? Then again, you won't miss it if you've never had it. Just don't go round looking for big ones or you'll only feel sold short when you get home to your tiddler.

Russell

Re: M&K K10 opinions??

Now now Russ.... and sorry Mr recruit, we promise it won't happen again!

I'm undecided, i think i may have to become a sad, sad thing that a man living on alone should never do and consider the fact that the Dyn will match the room so much better.... failing that i may just try and get both at my local store and go listen!

I guess i could just buy the M&K and if i don't like it someone on eBay will want it!!

Russ - as i've said before the biggest issue i have is that it's only the deep notes from my hifi that can really be heard in the flat below, so going to the depths of a mammoth sub may cause more upset than ideal!

Re: M&K K10 opinions??

quite honestly Scott_Mac i would look at something higher up the M&K range as the KX10 really is the smallest sub and sounding too, if you are wanting something discrete then look at the MX-7000 which has plenty of punch and can also be sited out of the way and is a back fire design which works well when sited near walls.

There is also other choices like the SVS SB12+ which looks and sounds superb for the price, BK also offer a smaller range which may also be worth a look at.

Re: M&K K10 opinions??

The MX-7000 looks a bit scary big!

The SVS i do like, but then i get the Dynaudio at a similar price point, which no-one seems to have heard! I am going to see if the store can get the M&K over and get a Dynaudio in, that way i can guage if i want/need to spend £500+ on a sub... if i do prefer the Dyn then i guess i'd be silly yo not try the SVS too as it seems very highly rated and fits the compact desire i have.

The BK ones i've looked at many times, but whilst i know i shouldn't be like this as an audiophile i don't like the look particularly of the "cheaper" units.... only the Monolith really looks nice, and that's not really what i'd call subtle!!!

It is actually relatively small as the dimensions are H-15-1/8" x W-18-1/8" x L-10-3/4"

Re: M&K K10 opinions??

Go for the M&K KX12 subwoofer, it goes deep sounds alright at low volumes as well, which is how i listen too my Home Cinema since i like you have neighbours below too consider.
