help please

i have just bought a alpine mrp-m350 amp and i have a rockford sub and i am trying to set it up to get the best sound having problems with it tho, i cant figure out wot the LP FILTER is and what it does

thats car audio gear. be advised that this is a home-cinema forum. there is a car-audio forum on here (your post may get moved...)

in answer to your question though, LP stands for Low-Pass filter, which is used for directing low frequencies only to the sub. It may have different settings (eg. 40hz, 50hz, 100hz etc) which when selected will send only signals below these frequencies to the sub. Turn it off and your sub will get a full-range signal. (won't sound good)
