Question BK xls200 in the wall??

This is my room:

I..Internal Door...........................I
_ _ _ _______________________I _ _ _
I.................Plasma...................Stairs I
I.................................................. .I
I.................................................. .I__________

I..Corner Suite....................................Dining...........I
I..Sofa Along Here................................Table...........I
I___________________________________________I

<<<---------- Width 262" or 667cm ----------->>>

I'm having a custom AV wall built, with the plasma and all kit flushed inside it.
(There will be ample ventilation slots on the other side, as its another room/garage)

I am also proposing to put the sub woofer in the wall too... in a cabinet, with a speaker cloth on the front.
The wall will be primarily made from plasterboard, with wooden cabinet internally.

Will the sound be ok? and will it shake my house down by it being enclosed like that?

Other alternative is to get a DF, Downward Firing and put it on opposite side of room and use as a table, and use the space allocated for the sub initally to store my dvd's (well, some of them due to quantity!!)

If the BK goes in the wall, it will make my room look alot cleaner. Forward Firing version.

Look forward to your responses.
Cheers,
Xstyle

As the XLS200 is a sealed unit it should be just fine. It might be a good idea to make sure that the plasterboard surrounding the unit is stiffened with a few battens though.

Cheers John.
The install is being done by a proper AV company...
then my decorator will skim it too so its the same finish as the rest of the walls (then paint).

Do I gotta decide which colour!! Although it doesn't matter if no one can see it I suppose...

Should sound ok with Artcoustic DF Multi & Sonance RS1 speakers yeah?
Amp'd by Pio AX5ai...

The location can make or break a sub ,can you try it before you wall it in.

Not really... the whole house is now being decorated as a fast track project and the AV Wall is being contructed at the same time as the flooring going in ... so if it were not going in the wall I'd have to make that decision before the flooring goes in...

It should be ok in the wall ... it'll have some space around the sides and top too...

I'm not saying it won't work in the wall it just might not be the best location for it.

I would strongly advise that you test the placement works before fitting this in a permanent soffit. Otherwise you could end up with a weak bass response and a major redecoration bill. I think I would go for the free-space option personally, but that's just mho.

Can never find anything when you need to!

Will the cables supplied be ok to use, or can they be bettered?

You'd be better buying a 1m sub cable, the cable supplied is a 5m stereo jobbie, pretty good quality but at the very least you are likely to have a spare plug flapping around (assuming you'll be plugging it into the single sub out).

If it were me I'd be getting a Mark Grant 1m sub cable (think he makes them custom length if you need shorter)...PJ
