Subwoofer for Yamaha YSP-1 Sound Projector
Looking for a sub that would be a good partner for this.
Don't really want to spend more than £150 but funds are available if there is a GENUINE benefit to going a bit higher.
Cheers

I recommend something like the REL Quake or the Stampede as a minimum. We actually use the B&W PV1 in our demo room the YSP-1 all the time. Unless you buy second hand I don't think £150 is a realistic budget.

Doesn't have to be the latest. What does the PV1 sound like, Nice balance with the Yam?

Yeh, I know. Just curious as to the kind of sub sound that would compliment the YSP.

Any good subwoofer would complement the ysp ,the trouble is for £150 your limiting yourself to second hand. Whats the other equipnemt you have?

Just had a look at the ysp-1 ,it seems that it as built in amps with a subwoofer out ,i thought it was just a speaker.
If you haven't looked allready look up the xls200 on the bk website at £279 its more than you wanted to pay but its better than waisting £150 CLICK HERE

The Ruark Vita 50 from BK electronics will probably do a good value-for-money job for £150.
But the XLS200 would do an even better job!

That XLS looks good and the moneys ok.
I have a polished limestone floor so given that, would I be better with a downward or forward firing sub?
The rooms not particularly large either.

There shouldn't be any predictable difference between the forward- and downward-firing units. I would recommend forward firing if you go for a black or silver model but downward firing if you want one of the wooden finishes.

Is there any difference in 'spaciousness' between the two. Would the forward firer be more directional, something i'm keen to avoid in my awkward shaped room. (hence the ysp-1).
Certainly no question of the floor muffling a downward firer. Very solid surface indeed.
