Kef PSW2500 - Sony STR_DB795 Popping sound

Maybe you guys can help...

During the last few days the PSW2500 sub woofer has started making an occasional popping sound, thing is I'm not sure if its the sub itself or the Sony STR-DB795 receiver causing the problem.

If the sub is turned off there is no popping coming through the other 5 channels.

The pop sound which is loud seems to happen once ever 20 mins or so and can be a single pop or a series of 3 or 4 together.

Nothing electrical in the house is being turned on or off when it happens.

Any one got any ideas,

Dave

My PSW2010 did the same thing before eventually dying. Its a known problem with the 2010 so I guess your 2500 is going the same way.

I think its the amplification which can be fixed under guarantee.

Good luck.

I think you may be right, turning the volume down on the sub hasnt seemed to of made a difference - which would point to the problem being after the volume control ie the amp in the sub, I've emailed Kef so I'll see what they say.

Well its finally died, had a reply from kef saying it sounded like an amp module, my dealer has said to bring it in and they will arrange it to be fixed.

Top marks for service from Audio T, took it in on Saturday and got an email on Thursday (the Monday was a Bank Holday) to say all fixed, It needed a new amp module, although it looks like the whole rear panel has been replaced.

3 working days to repair is excellent!!

All fixed and I'm happy
