To tell you the truth Rel strongly discourage and maybe even prevent retails providing heavy discounts on there products.

Its all to do with marketing and brand image, people percieve the company as upper crust because they choose a select group of retailers to distribute there products. That way they have control over the way that designs are demoed as well as priced.

So the price you have wouldn't be found much cheaper, if at all. I bought a Rel Storm III from Sevenoaks and couldn't get any sort of discount, all I got in the end was a £100 Nordost interconnect. Nice certainly but I would have preferred £100 off the price.

I picked up a Stampede for £585 from a leading retailer that told me not to tell anybody.... Ooops!! They also threw in a nice interconnect.

In respect to them, I won't give out the name, but they gave me the discount on the basis there was a 10% discount offered at the Bristol AV show in Feb.... I only bought it 2 weeks ago, so maybe still worth an attempt!

I phoned musical images in edgware and they said that they would do it for £575, I will give beckenham a call tommorrow. Do you have a special affinity witht he branch or salesman beacuses thats a big discount on the £625 list or is it silver/black. I forgot to mention I am after the cherry and not black/silver. I found with the quake that the wood one sounds better as it is more solid.

I just stood in front of him and said if you were to do it for around 500 I would be interested. I have brought stuff from them for the last couple of years, but nothing major!

Its in black.

Thats £50 off list which they did offer me on the cherry model so I cant complain, since they took them offline there doesnt seem there is a bargain to be had. I got my Rel Quake in cherry with a 10m phono cable(£40) for £360. I just told the guy that sevnoaks were giving away cbales and that an internet site was doing it for £375

Would anyone who owns the new stampede care to compare it to other options in the price range (i.e. why did you buy it)?

Worth trying the Unilet Blue Murder sale as they offer a straight discount off all non sale stock 12.5% up to £1,499 rising to 20% off £5,000+. They stock Rel and lots of other 'no discount brands'. List price for a Stampede in black at £550 so should be £480 ish in the sale.

Unilet are doing the same deal on the real wood versions too, for £625 list price but with the 12.5% off it is about £75 off. £550 is a top price. They even said they would give me that price today even though the sale hasnt started yet. I had ordered mine already so passed but its a good offer. Not just on this item though any list price is heavilly reduced upto 20%.
