REL Q150 or MJ Reference 100

Hi all,

I have a denon av/r 1804 with B&W 601s as fronts and Bronze fx rears. (no centre speaker)

I am looking to buy a sub and would like some advice. Before researching i was going to get the REL Q150E, but that seems to get very mixed reviews. I am now also thinking of MJ Acoustics Reference 100 (which is £150 cheaper). Did also consider B&W ASW675 but at £650+ a little expensive i feel for the money i have paid on the rest of the system.

Which would go best with my curent system. Another thing to consider is my room is small, only 3 metres by 3 metres.

Thanks for your help

Wow that's small. I think you should try out them both. Maybe even try out the msaller models like the Quake or teh pro50.
That should be plenty in a small room and they are nice and small too

If you decide a rel q150e might suit, I have one in the classified ad section.
The reviews from the media are generally favourable but they are expensive new and definitely overpriced compared to other subs at the full price. I have had excellent service from mine in a room bigger than yours at my old house but since moving my room is 26 feet by 14 and so I need something more powerful.

If you decide you want something higher end
i have a rel storm for sale on the classifieds
I have a friend who has a denon 3802 with b&w rears 601's and lcr60's
centre left and right the room is a similar size he uses a storm and it sounds
fantastic! Lord of the rings is just amazing
just don't set it up too loud and you would see the diff from say a Q150 mkII

Thanks for all input..

Taking a little gamble as i have no chance of demoing it beforehand. Have ordered a BK XLS 200, should be with me within a couple of weeks. All the positive reviews on this site tempted me, am looking forward to seeing if it lives up to the hype...

fingers crossed
