Smile BK Gemini

Just ordered a black gloss version. I hope its an improvment on my Kef 2010.

How long does it normally take for BK subs to be built?

Sorry for jumping in, an extra question: where do they state the finishes available?

They seemed to disappear from the site a couple of weeks ago, from memory the range was the same as the XLS-200.

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

i was quoted 2 weeks for my monolith df in oak, which seems to be the standard quote for delivery. however it actualy took just over a month.
its a complete waste of time trying to phone them, because the woman will take your number, but never bothers to ring you back which is bloody annoying !!!
however i can report that the sub is a great piece of kit and well worth the wait.

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

Hi,

I ordered a Gemini in light oak via the telephone last Thursday. I was quoted 2weeks.

The lady who took my order didn't have any specific details but said the MK2 was to be the same price as the MK 1 even although 'it would be much improved over the MK1'.

Regards

Pete

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

The nice lady at BK told me BK black gloss subs only go to be lacquered every two weeks so it can be up to a 3 week delay for black gloss if you're order has to wait for the next batch. I've got a black gloss XLS 200 on order

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

I myself am torn between this subwoofer, or an MS309i, as this is a similar price why did you guys choose the BK Gemini? On a sidenote how much extra is the Gloss Black over the other finishes (I want it to match my Quad speakers)?

Many thanks

Anthony

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

Gemini MK2 ???

Whats the specs?
I only got my mk1 a few weeks ago.

Had to wait 2 weeks and 2 days as i ordered it in high gloss. It is a nice sub though. Small and stylish and sounds good too.
Heres a pic of my Gemini to keep you guys hanging in there

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

Ok, i hope it is ok posting this but this is what i know:

Slightly bigger dimensions

10" lightweight poly subwoofer for faster responce

Apparently, it goes lower and deeper than mk1

Price will be the same +/- a few £

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

I had mine delivered yesterday. I've hooked it up to a Yamaha YSP 30D

It's top quality and I went for light oak to match our other furniture. Here's some pics

I played U571 on DVD and the 'boom' from the sub was superb when the depth charges exploded.

I've got a Kef set up with an HTB2 powered by a Denon amp in my main room and imo the Gemini is better.

Cost the same as the Gemini MK1 as well.

Cheers

Pete

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

That looks really nice there, matches the unit well. It's a knats knacker off the size of the xls200 now I notice.

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

I presume that the Gemini that's on the site is the MK2?

Do they charge the CC when they ship the sub or when ordering?

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

I would presume so as it states that it's the MK2.

Mine was charged when it was ready to be despatched

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

Thanks.
I ordered mine two weeks ago and although they quote 7-10 days it seems its always around 3 weeks. You'd think they would give more accurate estimates.

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

Hi peternut

The sub looks fantastic in light oak

Can you post a picture of the other side please

How does it sound ?

I am new to subs and am looking into buying the Gemini MK2 but don't know if I should maybe go for the XLS200 instead

I see you are based in Glasgow so maybe if you don't mind I could pop round and have a listen

Cheers

Genghis

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

Hi,

The sub sounds great as I mentioned in an earlier post - better than my KEF. Lots more ooomph & boom.

There's a pic of the back on the BK website (saves me taking a photo and uploading!)

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

Have you tested it with music as I will be using my sub with a hi-fi setup only and not for cinema ?
How is the bass with music ?
Cheers
