Well I can only speak personally but my amp's a completely different beast to yours and I don't feel the Gemini II is out of it's depth. It shouldn't be all about the bass to that extent as it gets ridiculous IMHO.

If it was my money and invest the saving in the speakers like you say as that will make a major difference to the setup up to and they will handle a bit more bass than the current setup.

If worse comes to worse you can return the Gemini II for the 200 as I asked Tom via email myself as I was worried in case I had issues with mains hum etc. You will have to pay for the postage back that's all.

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

Back when I used to play FPS games .. the better the subwoofer, the better the experience The kick of the AWP sniper rifle in CounterStrike, and the sheer depth in bass the grenades and tank shell explosions gave in COD3 creating a 'shellshocked' experience was unbelievable .. they really rattled the room

So, IMO for gaming, get the best sub you can afford

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

going out on a limb here, but id say the xls200 or whatever just kicks more ass than the gemini... but it comes down to budget at the end of the day...

Blimey!

Just put mine on a £10 Argos granite kitchen top board. Wow. Tightens up the bass something shocking. No delay vibrations through the floor boards now.

Well impressed!

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

Definietly makes a massive difference isolating the sub, I put the spikes on my Gemini Mk2's this weekend and it made a huge difference. The spikes go through ther carpet to concrete floor, and the sofas shake now when running at a reasonable volume.

The Gems are amazing subs, watched Knowing after putting the spikes on and I couldnt believe how powerful such small subs can sound, I do have two though which probably helps a little but they are the most impressive small dimension sub Ive ever come accross. The plane crash scene had me turning down the volume rapidly, took me by surprise.

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

hi all, i recently brought a gemini 2 sub too, "upgraded" from a rel quake. and thought il give my 2 cents on this sub so far.

i have a very small room, roughly 3m by 3m for my pc hometheater setup with onkyo 506 amp.

iv had the gemini II for a few weeks now, came perfectly packaged, and i chose the excellent rosewood finish.

the build quality of this sub lives up to the forum gossip
but i have one caveat...... the strange audyssey test tone distortion sounds like either an amp problem, or air compression within the driver itself? wish i had the specs of the driver they used

but on the plus side, i am hearing things in the mix i didnt before with the quake, and it is louder, with better controls and filtering too

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

Ordered a gloss black to replace my dead KEFF PSW2000 - have to say very impressed so far and works well with the KEF 2005 satellites I have now I've set everything up with an SPL meter. Took 2 weeks from order to delievery - BK a pleasure to deal with.

I was torn between the XLS 200 and the Gemini 2 but am more than happy with the performance of the Gemini 2. As long as your not looking to blow out any walls, the Gemini 2 packs a big enough punch IMO.

Smile Re: BK Gemini Mk2

ok, finally setup the gem 2 in my room perfectly as i want it. Initial impressions in my room werent the best, since room node made it sound boomy.... (made me regret selling my quake!) BUT

got my radioshack spl, with calibration files, and tamed my room node as much as i could without a BFD, and the result is deeper bass, more detailed, tighter, and on a much larger scale.

This sub really sounds so much better on spikes, u can feel the percussive deep bass much better

here is my REW graph, for a 3m by 3m room im very happy, my room node is 60hz. hoping to look into a BFD or something similar one day

Just ordered myself a Gemini in rosewood to compliment my RS1s, hoping it's as good as everyone says it is!

Join the club, me too, just a little concerned about this ''hum'' i have read about in the past 12 pages regarding the Gemini Also does putting a solid granite chopping board ( about £15 from Asda) add to the overall sound you would get via the Sub ?

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

The hum on my unit is very very slight (by my fussy standards) and I got the £10 granite chopping board from Argos. Mine was on a carpetted floor board room. Made a masssssssive difference and now have granite under my fronts and DVD player, HD DVD and Blu ray :-)

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

The granite chopping boards you can get in Wilkinson are 9 quid and slightly bigger than the Argos ones.

Re: BK Gemini Mk2

Recieved my Geminii 2 in light oak yesterday and set it up last night. What a lovely bit of kit....much easier to integrate into my kef eggs than the PSW2000 (which surprise surprise broke) and fantastic build quality and easily enough bass for my 4m by 4m room
