Unhappy Correct settings for a sub with high and low level inputs

Hi!

I own a Yamaha HTR-5060 receiver, 2 JM Lab Chorus 706 V and a brand new BK Gemini.
The 2 speakers are set to SMALL.
Both high and low level inputs are connected to the Gemini.
The High Level input frequency is set to 80 Hz on the Gemini.
The Low Level input frequency is set to LFE on the Gemini (= max frequency)
Crossover frequency is set to 80 Hz on the Yamaha.
When listening to a regular CD on Direct Stereo mode, there is no output from the low level. This a fine. Only the high level input is used and the Gemini works fine too.

But when I try to use another mode than Direct Stereo, the high level input shoudn't have any signal, right? Because the receiver is supposed to cut the speakers frequencies below 80 Hz. (remember my speakers are set to small)

The weird thing, is that I do have a signal from the high level input in this case.

What's wrong?

The crossover seems to do something on the receiver because I can easily hear the difference from 200 Hz to 40 Hz. But even if I set the crossover to 200 Hz, there is still something coming from the high level (set to 80 Hz or below)

I am no expert but could this be because the crossovers do not fully block all frequencies below the level set. S there is always some low frequency signal, albeit of reduced strength, going to the speakers.

Slopes? Is this the same as roll off? Is the intention to give a gradual fade rather than a hard (abrupt) cutoff (which I guess would be noticeable)?
