If I bring my BFD which room would you put me in?

Very interested in everything mentioned thus far; especially the calibration stuff. Can I put in a request for the HD-DVD of The Matrix 'lobbyscene to helicopter crash' as part of the demo material and can you convert my beer allowance to coffee.

Can we get it all done in only 6 hours?

I will see what I can do with the Matrix request, but don't hold me to it.

No probs in 'exchanging' beer for coffee, i'm sure the rest of the group will be more than happy to distribute your share

[RANT MODE]That is a fun scene and familiar to all but it is very long and there is nothing that will stretch a subwoofer on that Disc IMO

Use it as a general speaker test, or surround workout? then I am with you

If we are going to really sort the men from the boys we need to push them hard. To me at least () that means Reference level and all the sub 20hz stuff we can find Muahahahahahaaaa!

Having the old Ultra I want to know how much better the 13Us are, to see if it is worth upgrading. If we don't push them then how will we know if they are worth the extra?

Not if all the scenes are that long For everyone to get a listen I imagine we will have to keep the scenes short and sharp. Especially if people want to start tweaking things...

Adam

[/RANT MODE]

Seeing as the running of this event has nothing to do with me however, maybe I will shutup

You've pretty much hit my nail squarely on the head. I've been looking at HD in various demo formats (and now at home via Sky) for a couple of years and have yet to hear anything of the much acclaimed audio benefits.

I'd like this footage because I (and I would assume everyone else attending) have seen it countless times and am very familiar with it. The soundtrack on the HD-DVD got top marks in the mags I read and as you said yourself it's a 'proper' workout for a whole system.

I'm not going to be upset if its not there - I'm just really looking forward to the dancing girls and the magician. (But no clowns - too scary)

Only 2 weeks(ish) to go, weeeee

Can you tell I am looking forward to it? A whole building full of AV enthusiasts, nodding sagely as they stroke their beards, I can't wait!

Well with all the talk of 'pulling rabbits out' I just thought there'd be a magician.

Or are your dancers a speciality act?

The mind boggles where the dancers are going to pull the rabbits from

On a more serious note ...

Will the sub have any kind of EQ applied to it on the demo day? At the last demo day, the sub (SB12+) didn't have any EQ applied...whilst this was good for getting a feel for what the performance could be I would have liked it to be have been set up to near optimum performance level.

If we could connect up an EQ device to it (SMS-1 for example) then EQ can easily be applied/defeated to give a good indicator of the subs performance.

Just a thought.

Steve

Hi Steve,

The PB13 will be Audyssey'd (by a Multi XT Pro stand alone unit), which intially will be always switched on. In the afternoon there will be an opportunity to switch it in/out. The idea is to show it at it's maximum potential level.

P.S We all need to keep limbs crossed that the ship has a safe passage, we don't want any unexpected delays...
The cylinders are in the country!

Just waiting for them to clear customs!!

OMG that was quick - Were they shipped on the 31st when you posted about them, or were they already on the water then ?

I'll be on standby on the morning of the 17th to make the quick dash around the M25 just incase anyone drops out

Remember, the cylinders that have reached the country are only the ones for the demo day.

Assuming all goes well with customs I was just wondering............

Any chance of purchasing the (soon to be used) PC ultra after the demo on the 17th November?

IIRC, they had just landed on the water. They MAY be arriving here today...if they do I'll have to hunt down the camera, watch this space.

Don't worry Michael, we've got enough coming in on the shipment to cover the pre-orders

It's worth me quoting this, as this is the case. They are only the demo units.

So who is going to check out which one in their home setup? Purely for running in purposes of course so that they'll be ready for the forum day
