I just got this sub as a replacement. It's a JBL 8 inch sub. Anyway, I tested it before I brought it home because it was used. It sounded fine. Plugged it into my system with a direct rca sub out. And now, when theres no audio going to it, and it's just sitting there, there's a wierd noise that sounds like a helicopter. I can't pinpoint it. Any ideas?

when there is a signal going to it is the noise audible in the background ? worth checking its not picking up electrical interference from another source like cables nearby.

move it to another location free from any other electrical device and switch it on there with no rca input, if you have the noise then it could be your sub has developed a fault.

Actually it does make the sound when the rca is not plugged in. But it works fine when the movie is playing, so I just leave it off when I'm not using it.
