Subwoofer cable, where does my cable sit?

I have recently upgraded interconnects and speaker cable and completely overlooked the subwoofer cable. I now have Chord Signature for both interconnects from Pre to Power Amp and speaker cable, plus Chord Anthems between my Blu-ray player and Pre amp.

I had my subwoofer cable installed a couple of years ago by the local hifi shop on my B&W PV1 and they used Qed QX1CV-SC cable, which is off the reel stuff used by installers, but I am not sure how good it is compared to others?

So my question is;

Will I see an improvement by upgrading the current subwoofer cable?

If yes, would Chord Chameleon (£100) be good enough to match the rest of the system or do I need to go for Chord Chorus (£365) ?

The answers to this will help me track down a shop who will be able to let me home audition them.

I may well be shot down in flames for saying this but I doubt either cable will give you a noticeable improvement in sound quality from the sub.

I'm tempted to say that if you've got £350 to spend on a subwoofer connector you should go for it. The economy needs you.

Seriously though, no audible difference. Not in a million years.

Looks like you have some quality gear there, I would be interested to see if a very expensive sub cable could make a difference so if you do splash out on one then let's hear your impressions. As has been stated though, I think conventional wisdom on sub cables is that provided they are well shielded you wont hear a difference no matter how expensive they are?

I splashed out on a expensive sub RCA Cable and convinced myself it was £30 well spent over the plastic wire supplied and never realised you could spend that much jeeprs ! interested in your findings though if you go for it

Personally anything over about this level :

Subwoofer cable - Canares finest quality - LV77S

And the shops are just taking you for one of the biggest rides of your life and not a fun one !!.

Re: Subwoofer cable, where does my cable sit?

exactly, the shops will tell you that the really expensive cables will transform your sub into a miracle worker

dont buy into it

they are after commission

get a QED one, they are as good as any

it will be shielded

like i said, i couldnt tell any difference, so i saved myself some dosh to put to better use

the forum knows all!!
