Quick opinion needed. BK XLS200 vs Monitor Audio RSW12

Hi all

I'm setting up a dedicated small room (12x10 feet) with projector and mid range audio. Speakers are all Quad L series and I am planning on a BK XLS200 sub, as the Quad is a bit pricey. I also have an option of a second hand Monitor Audio RSW12 for a similar price which reviews say is a stunner, but I wonder if you guys have an opinion? I'll be using the system for music too, but probably not that often

Any help and advice very welcome

Personally, I would probably go with the MA option if the price is right.

Is in good condition too? Thats not a bad price and probably worth the money against an XLS 200

Hi,

Just to jump in, i'm in the same boat. Currently have a 5.0 setup with the MS RS range but now need a sub. Is the RSW12 that good compared to the BK XLS200?

Many thanks!!

Re: Quick opinion needed. BK XLS200 vs Monitor Audio RSW12

Put it this way, the RSW12 should be at least as good and on paper certainly looks so. Given its rrp it should be better, but the BK subs are extraordinarily good for the money so it could be closer than rrp's sugest.

IMO, getting the MA sub for the same money will get you a sub at least as good as the XLS200, and there is a decent chance it is better, so its a safe bet really. Ive not heard the XLS 200 myself, but the RSW12 is by no means a bad sub, and for £300 its a very good one

If you have a bit more to spend though, then the XLS400 would take my preference over the MA sub.

Re: Quick opinion needed. BK XLS200 vs Monitor Audio RSW12

Hi all
Thanks for your replies on this one, but as luck would have it I have just found and bought a different unit that although was on my search list, I didnt think I would be able to afford. It's a Quad original L series (not Lite) in piano black, hardly used, all as new, including the packaging and white gloves. Paid £320 and I feel quite pleased with the deal.......I think it will prove as good as the 2 subs I originally asked about (fingers crossed), and as the rest of my system is all Quad (21L's, L centre, and lites for surround) I'm hoping integration will be good
