can you "cover" a sub in laminate ?

can you "cover" a sub in laminate ?

Hi

if i got a standard sub - kef psw2000 for example, could i cover the outside with a wooden laminate or would this effect the sound ?

As long as you bond it well it should be fine. Ensure the surface is clean.
It could be a bit complicated around the driver hole and amp aperture. How would you finish the top too?

Ha-ha!!
A beer or two goes a long way, hey?

Making a 'box' around a box will help it vibrate the panels less. Feel the sides when it's going for a 'bit of fun' and you'll probably find they vibrate. Another layer should eliminate much of this. It will, of course, increase it's weight.

certainly does

as long as it wont effect the sound im not too bothered - just dont want somethig big and silver sitting next to oak and black av gear lol

Have you considered veneer. Not sure of the shape of the sub but if its just a flat sides then veneer might be a better looking option then again this might not go well with your budget. Just a thought
