Re: Bassotronics....How low???

The note at the end of the bass bit is the longest one but it's not the lowest. The 2nd note of the bass bit (it's very brief, maybe a quarter of a second) is the one that really extends the cone. It's the closest I've heard/felt to a "brown note"!

I'll have to have another look at this track then....is this bit near the start of the track?

...You watch, i'll be starting a new thread in the subwoofer section entitled "how i blew my sub up with Bassotronics"!!!!

(i'll take it steady I think??!)

Re: Bassotronics....How low???

It's the second bass note in the track and is repeated in the "riff" throughout.

I would take it very easy. What do you gain from playing an insane track which can't be played properly by almost any subwoofer on earth? The ultra low stuff is just bragging rights and hype. It has no value at all and actually makes the track unplayable at high levels on most subwoofers. The 5-8Hz signal cannot be heard, sensed or enjoyed by anyone except (perhaps) the owner of a Thigpen rotary sub. This track is a complete nonsense and repetitive into the bargain. Many an "artist" has discovered that, having nothing new to say and lacking any talent, one can always become controversial. Anything to put food on the table. Can you imagine an artist who painted in UV and IR? Both well beyond the human visual spectrum? What would be the point?

Said this all along, around -10db is a safe limit (subwoofer depending) for this track IMO

Nimby, did you try track 6 ? it's better

Re: Bassotronics....How low???

Paul,

That track 6 is probably the best track for excursion.

One nice thing with the PB13 is that you don't have to get on all fours to check the driver out. It's fun watching it from the sofa.

cheers

Graham

I thought it was the best 'musical' track on the disk full stop, nice ambient effect to it shame it sounded like it was recorded off an old record though

Re: Bassotronics....How low???

An interesting thread, which prompted me to do some research on infrasonics and found this report - A Short History of Sound Weapons Pt2: Infrasound « stalker
Apologies if this has been touched upon, but it makes interesting reading - be warned!!
Now I know why using this track for subwoofer demos left me bored - it was toying with my brains median alpha-rythm frequencies
Cheers
Ian

Wouldn't it be easier if he just built his own IB?

I'm not even sure this stuff is music! (in the accepted sense)

I wouldn't expect you to purchase anything just to appease me, lol!
I got 95 Bassotronics songs all from Realmofexcursion, but it would seem as though much of them aren't there anymore!

I posted a video of an ultra playing Cruisin' Through the Nights in the post a vid of your sub thread. I don't think it contains any of the potentially sub killing lows that Bass I Love You does...it just has a series of longer low freq's, which does cause a considerable amount of rattling, even when played by my standmounts!.

I may even think about building my own IB in the future, when I own my own home at least a short walk away from the next neighbour! For now the Monolith in production will do!

Others, what's 'track 6' called?

Chaps

Check out a website called soundclick. I'll try and find out what the website is called. Theres 147 bassotronics songs on there. You can play them all. And some go deeper than I love you.

Im going to register to get them all as you can buy them all.

cheers Graham

Re: Bassotronics....How low???

FYI, the basstronic music was free for anyone who wanted it and free to share not too long ago as the guy was trying to get recognition. Nothing has changed as far as I know so downloading it is no problem.

Re: Bassotronics....How low???

Just been browsing through Bassotronics' tracks on Sound Click, there's some serious bass going on there!

I've got a PB13 Ultra but slightly worried I might end up doing it some damage!

EDIT: AV Receiver is on about -16 and +1.5 for the bass and the sub is at 12 o'clock on the 15hz setting. On the 5 channel setting to increase the bass. Am I just being paranoid?!
